1. Re: Doe an 'Effect' applied to raster image turn it into a vector image?
markerline Sep 18, 2012 1:46 PM (in response to GArshamA)AFAIK you can only convert raster data by performing an Image Trace (formerly known as Live Trace) on a raster image to make it vector.

Monika Gause Sep 18, 2012 2:00 PM (in response to GArshamA)Angled brush stroke is a pixel based effect, so the result won't be vector.

GArshamA Sep 19, 2012 4:43 AM (in response to GArshamA)Thanks Markerline and Monika. I was confused because when you do an extreme zoom of the image, I do not see any pixels as you do when you do a zoom in Photoshop. Any reason the zoom would not show them?

emil emil Sep 19, 2012 10:26 AM (in response to GArshamA)In Photoshop regardless of pixel dimensions (size) of different images, all images will have the same size pixels on your monitor at certain zoom level. In Illustrator it doesn't work that way because the images are placed in the working area and you can scale them in any way you like which doesn't change internally the available pixels (pixel dimensions). For example, you can have a placed image with thousands of pixels and scale this image on the working area to 1 x 1 pixels according to the rulers but this dosn't actually change internally the available pixels of the image which can be used when you print and also when you zoom in your screen. If you make the maximum zoom of 6400% the image scaled to 1x1 pixels will become displayed with the size of 64 x 64 monitor pixels. In order to see pixelation in this case, the available pixels of you placed image must be less than 64 x 64.
