I am unable to access the videos in my personal website (www.jeanieandgaryporter.myshaklee.com) which use Adobe Reader. I recently installed an update from Adobe - I have Adobe Reader X - am wondering if it is corrupted somehow. I sent my problem to Shaklee Field Support and they said they could access the videos on my website with no problem. so it is my computer. What can I do to fix this?

I have looked at the videos on the site you mention; they play fine with Adobe Flash Player.  Maybe you should install Flash Player on your computer → http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/

Hi Pat,

I downloaded Adobe Flash Player – it says: Installation Successful – you are now running Adobe Flash Player. However, the videos on my website still do not work. I also am unable to find evidence that Adobe Flash Player is in my list of programs. I do not see the icon on my desktop and I do not find it in the list of All Programs. I do have the Adobe Reader X icon on my desktop and in the list of programs.

Ironically, I have the same problem with my laptop – the videos on my website do not work. My laptop is an HP Pavilion and it has Vista. (My PC is a Dell and it has Windows 7.) I just downloaded Adobe Flash Player on my laptop -- with the same results as my PC – the videos still do not work. I also do not see the Adobe Flash Player icon and I do not see it listed in my Programs.

I really appreciate your responding to my question. Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated. I use the laptop when doing Shaklee presentations to people, so it’s really frustrating when the videos don’t play.

Thanks,

Jeanie Porter

What is your web browser?  If Internet Explorer, check

Note that Flash Player is a browser add-on, not an executable program.  You will not find it in your program list, nor as a desktop icon.

Hi Pat,

Amazingly, the videos are now working in Internet Explorer. They still do not work in Firefox, which is ironic because Shaklee recommends Firefox since it works better for most of the website. They work on both my laptop and PC in Internet Explorer since I downloaded the Flash Player.

Thanks for letting me know I would not find it in my programs. That was puzzling to me!! J

Thanks for all your help! I’m glad to know that Adobe is not just a vague place in cyber space – you actually give individual, personal help. Yea!!!

You will have to install it on your FireFox browser(doesn't come standard with it, and it is a different piece of software). Here is a download link:

http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/?promoid=JZEFT

Be sure to open that link in FireFox only. If you open it in IE, it will reinstall the IE version and not the FireFox one.

Hi Geeks,

I went to Firefox and downloaded the installer you listed below: http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/?promoid=JZEFT

I also went to Firefox and downloaded the installer Pat W sent me: http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/otherversions/

Both seemed to install successfully. Strangely, a window opened in IE to tell me it was successfully installed, even though I started in Firefox!!

However, the videos still do not work on my website in Firefox. (I tried it after each installation). They do, however, work perfectly in IE and Google Chrome. I guess I will have to settle for that. At least I have that option when needed.

Thanks so much for all your help.

Hi,

It opened Internet Explorer to provide you the "Installation successful" message, because Internet Explorer is your default browser.

Could you please open Firefox.

Click Tools > Add-ons.

See Shockwave Flash is listed there. Enable it by clicking the Enable button.

Also, go to the following page using Firefox and let us know if you see any animation there: http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/find-version-flash-player.html

Thanks,

Sunil

Hi,

In Firefox, I have Toolbar Options (a gear icon next to options), but Add-ons is not listed, nor is Shockwave Flash.

From the link listed below, there is no animation – no movie.

Flash Player has two different installers; one for Internet Explorer (ActiveX) and one for other browsers (plugin).

You need to install the Flash Player plugin (for Firefox) as well; download it from http://helpx.adobe.com/content/help/en/flash-player/kb/installation-problems-flash-player-windows.ht... and run it.

Hi,

I went to the link listed (had to remove the space in problems) and it had the following:

Failed to initialize

Reason: Antivirus software from vendors like Comodo, Jiangmin, and Rising are incorrectly identifying the Adobe Flash Player installer as malware. False reports from these vendors include “TrojWare.Win32.Trojan.Agent.Gen,” “Trojan/JmGeneric.bcy,” and “Suspicious.” Users are also reporting “Failed to Initialize” errors and the installer is getting quarantined.

Workaround: Antivirus software vendors and service providers are currently addressing this issue so that the installer is recognized as being legitimate. Ensure that your antivirus signatures are up-to-date.

If the issue persists, use the direct links <http://helpx.adobe.com/content/help/en/flash-player/kb/installation-problems-flash-player-windows.html#main-pars_header> to download Flash Player installer.

To the top <http://helpx.adobe.com/content/help/en/flash-player/kb/installation-problems-flash-player-windows.html>

A newer version already installed

Reason: Your computer is installed with a Flash Player version that’s later than the version you are trying to install.

Solution: Check the Flash Player version <http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/find-version-flash-player.html> installed on your computer. The latest version of Flash Player available on your computer is provided in the same page. Install the latest version <http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/installation-problems-flash-player-windows.html#Download_and_install_the_latest_Flash_Player_version> .

If you need an older version, uninstall the existing version <http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html> . Older version of Flash Player is provided in the Flash Player archive <http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/archived-flash-player-versions.html> page. Then, install the latest version.

Note: To uninstall Flash Player beta, use the corresponding Flash Player beta uninstaller available in Adobe Labs.

I don’t think either of those fits my need. Also, I tried to access Tools>Options (as recommended above the copied messages), but in Firefox, I have Toolbar Options (a gear icon next to options), but I did not find Content/Enable Java-Script. Also Add-ons is not listed, nor is Shockwave Flash as noted in Sunil’s email.

Can you tell me if you have the 32-bit or 64-bit version of Windows 7?

Open Windows Explorer and navigate to this folder C:\Windows\system32\Macromed\Flash - do you have a file in there that starts with NPSWF and ends with .dll ?  If so, then the Flash Player plugin for Firefox is installed.

If it is there, but you still cannot view videos in Firefox, open Tools | add-ons, then click on Plugins.  Do you see Shockwave Flash in there, and is it enabled?

Pat,

That’s weird. I answered in red after each of your questions. It shows up in my sent file that way, too!

Here are my answers:

64 bit

Yes, I do have a file named NPSWF and ends with .dll

Yes, I see Shockwave Flash in Plug-Ins and Yes, it is enabled

BTW, I did not find the Plug-Ins in Tools. I finally found it from the Firefox menu / Add-Ons / Plug-Ins

Thanks,

Jeanie

You got me out off base Pat... What're you talking about?

FlashInstalled.JPG

It has always been there! If not, how would you uninstall it the standard way?, i.e. without the uninstaller tool.

From the original poster's question I understood that she was expecting an icon on the desktop, or in the Start Programs list - that's what I meant.

Naturally there's an entry in the Control Panel's Programs and Features (formerly Add/Remove Programs).
