FlashPlayer update downloads and installs but doesn't work!

WIN 7 64bit . . . followed the instructions -- downloaded Player 11 -- still can't get most videos from YouTube or Facebook to run,  Still get the update notice or I get a black box with a no plarking symbol in the upper left . . . what's up . . . how can I make it work?  I got a successful download and a message indicating it's installed.
