Performance differences between Bridge 32bit and 64bit

    rob_ashcroft Community Member

I'm getting two distinct performance issues with CS6 Bridge (I have installed the latest updates - 5.0.1) I am on 13.0.1 of CS6.

The basic problem in both issues is that the 64bit version seems very slow, compared to the 32bit.

Problem 1. In 64bit Bridge it can often be very slow to select multiple image icons, especially when scrolling down the page. This does not happen in the 32bit version.

Problem 2. I use Silver Efex Pro2 (SEP2) pluging for BW conversions. If I have 64bit CS6 and 64bit Bridge loaded and access the SEP2 plugin the preview images take a long time to load, and when I do select one and process it the processing time is about 30 secs. With 32bit Bridge and 64bit CS6 the preview images load in a couple of secs, and the processing of a selected preset only takes about 10 secs at most.

I have added my config data for my PC at the bottom of this post.

These are my performance settings in CS6. I have tried switching the graphics processor on and off. It makes not difference at all. I have also tried switching off the GPU in SEP2 and that makes no difference either.

To summarize: SEP2 is running very well with 32bit Bridge and 64bit CS6, but with both at 64bit it is extremely slow.

I'm also reporting this to Nik Software (makers of SEP2)

I have a screen video which shows what is happening. Best viewed in HD mode. Sorry about the sound - you will need to turn up your speakers.
