1. Re: simple edit button question
Stan Jones Sep 22, 2012 2:42 PM (in response to nefl777)Instead of trying to fix this in Encore, use the "edit in photoshop." It doesn't matter whether the line is inside the textbox. It just needs to be in the button group and marked as a highlight. You can easily see that and fix it in PS.
Thin lines sometimes present issues depending on where they are in the frame.
I would check this in PS first.
If you don't see the issue, please post a screenshot of from PS with at least this layer and another layer (that works) twirled open (sowe can see the layers inside each button group).

nefl777 Sep 22, 2012 2:47 PM (in response to Stan Jones)Hi stan, thanks for taking the time to answer! I went into photoshop and these buttons are marked "non-editable adjustment". Is there a setting somewhere to unlock this? thanks!!

Stan Jones Sep 22, 2012 2:59 PM (in response to nefl777)Make sure you are in the layers panel.
Post a screenshot if it doesn't make sense.

4. Re: simple edit button question
nefl777 Sep 22, 2012 3:09 PM (in response to Stan Jones)Ok, I sent the menu to Photoshop from EN. here is a screenshot of the layers panel:
note the Pen with the slash across. That indicates a 'non-editable adjustment' layer.
I tried double clicking on it but it thinks I want to rename. I right clicked on it and the only options available (others are greyed out) are 'enable, duplicate, and delete'.
ideas?

5. Re: simple edit button question
Stan Jones Sep 22, 2012 3:22 PM (in response to nefl777)I have not seen that. You should have a triangle to open that layer (it is the top of the button group).
I would try the "enable" option.

Ann Bens Sep 23, 2012 2:40 AM (in response to nefl777)To me the buttons look correct.
Bluebox for text and highlight, green for overall
The underline should have a blue bounding box of its own
It just happend that the 'g' overlaps the highlight
Where did this menu come from?

7. Re: simple edit button question
nefl777 Sep 23, 2012 5:56 AM (in response to Ann Bens)Hi Ann, yes you are right. the button came from the button library.
do you know how to resize the text correctly?
my question is; how to make the box include the line? when I move it in any way, the text just grows or shrinks... I can't seem to move or resize that box all by itself. I do know how to move the white line ok.
The whole reason I want to do this is because when I test the menu, and put the cursor on top of the button, the lower line will not show up. when the box covers the line, the lower line does show up. thank you!

Ann Bens Sep 23, 2012 6:38 AM (in response to nefl777)Dont think that will make any difference if the line is showing through the blue box or not.
Which menu/button is it?
I think its a menu glitch
When i have made a menu that does not work properly i do not fix it but start over.

Stan Jones Sep 23, 2012 7:52 AM (in response to nefl777)I agree with Ann; start over. But here's some more info.

Selecting the various layers of the button group can be difficult. See post 7 in the following regarding the Select Tool, the Direct Select Tool, and the Text Tool.

You're assuming that is why. And if you can adjust it to make it work, that will be great. But it is more likely that there is a glitch in this instance of this button that you are not likely to get fixed or that it is something other than your theory. For example, if you got the layers switched, I suppose it is possible for a highlight to be hidden by the text layer. (But buttons normally have the highlight layer above the text layer.)
