Flash player download failure

I am trying to download flashplayer 11 on my windows XP pc running Norton antivirus. Initialisation fails and I get "certificate authentication failed". Tried deactivating Norton and checked Java etc without any luck. Is this a step to far for my pc or can anyone help!
