2. Re: Red Epic 2:1 in a 16:9 HD world
Tayedrummer Jun 7, 2012 7:41 AM (in response to Jim Curtis)That just gives me a sequence with 2:1 aspect and that's what I don't want.
I have 5K footage with 2:1 aspect ratio. I want to work in a 16:9 sequence. I need to not only have Premiere scale to frame size but also match the HEIGHT not the WIDTH of the frame so that it crops off the sides of the image.

Jim Curtis Jun 7, 2012 7:46 AM (in response to Tayedrummer)Sorry, I misunderstood. You can bring all your clips in to a sequence. Frame/scale one to taste, copy it, and use Paste Attributes to scale/frame all the others you have selected to paste onto.
I don't like that Scale to Frame Size option.

Tayedrummer Jun 7, 2012 8:34 AM (in response to Jim Curtis)Oh, ok. That's exactly what I'm doing now. Just kind of clumbsy and was hoping that there was a better way.

srukweza Jun 7, 2012 2:10 PM (in response to Tayedrummer)Go to edit and select preference and then general. Check the box which says default scale to frame size.

Your best option then it to shoot it that way.

aleyland Sep 23, 2012 3:22 PM (in response to Tayedrummer)I feeling your pain too, I'm editing in a 1080p timeline.
I have some 4K HD (which scales down fine) and mostly 3K which is like 1.89 (not 16:9) which gets letter boxed when dropped into the timeline and scale to framesize.
So far I've made presets for scaling footage, 4K HD = 50%, 3K = 67% and 2K I just leave alone.
It'd be great to have options with "Scale to Frame size" such as "Scale to match height" to avoid letterbox with non 16:9 aspects.
