Which is better for PS CS 6 - Mac OS Lion or OS Mountain Lion?

    Tnmike Community Member

I am presently running PS CS5 Extended on my iMac using OS Lion and it is running great.  I am upgrading from PS CS5 Extended to PS CS6.  Anyone have any practical experierence, good or bad, with PS CS6 on Mac OS Mountain Lion?  At some point I will upgrade from OS Lion to OS Mountain Lion but I am not completely comfortable that now is the time.  Any comments will be appreciated. Thanks.

          TnMike,

At this point I'm holding at 10.7.5 mostly because several plug-ins and a key system utility (Spellcatcher) aren't compatible with 10.8. We'll all be forced forward eventually but for now 10.7 works except that I'm having the dreaded "PS saves in wrong file format" problem. Theoretically this stems from old symlinks (aliases) or incompatible plug-ins. I've got a lot of time invested in the solution without much progress. You should check very carefully that ALL of your plug-ins are CS6 and ML compatible before making the jump. The Adobe upgrade (from 5.5 to 6) did cause a fair amount of confusion, though it mostly wasn't hard to sort out except for the problem noted above. If you do have CS5 plug-ins and if they are referenced by aliases you will have to fix them. (Delete and reinstall plug-ins again.) Adobe claims this is not a bug Also check with everyone to insure you have current programs.

The "saves wrong format" problem is because you're trying to load Adobe plugins from a previous version of Photoshop.  Just get rid of whatever you mistakenly copied from a previous version.
