1. Re: DVD/BD trailer compilation with 2 audio tracks - 50 timelines, chapter playlist, what's best?
Stan Jones Oct 4, 2012 12:45 PM (in response to Creatively Bankrupt)I would think the easiest way is to make each trailer its own video/asset, and then its own Encore timeline. The play all is a single playlist (or you do multiple playlists by genre).
The single trailer view is just that trailer/timeline with a "last menu" end action.
You turn the commentary track on or off in a single operation for the disk.
You don't need any overrides.
Since each trailer is a single chapter timeline, you cannot use the "chapter index" feature to create multiple chapter menus.

3. Re: DVD/BD trailer compilation with 2 audio tracks - 50 timelines, chapter playlist, what's best?
Creatively Bankrupt Oct 5, 2012 2:52 PM (in response to Stan Jones)I appreciate the tips. I love the idea of genre playlists too - I've asked if they'd like me to inclide that as more 'Play All' options. I also didn't know the audio channel options were disc-wide and thought it would default back to 1 if the user started watching a different trailer. That saved me a lot of time.
Here's the trailer project you've helped me on - thank you!: http://plus.google.com/u/0/105813598809807751664/posts/JyF5QnPeKir#105813598809807751664/p osts/JyF5QnPeKir

4. Re: DVD/BD trailer compilation with 2 audio tracks - 50 timelines, chapter playlist, what's best?
Creatively Bankrupt Oct 19, 2012 11:44 AM (in response to Creatively Bankrupt)So as it turns out, the suggested method of making individual timelines for each trailer was not the way to go. The 'Play All' option, which most people use, was clunky and stuttered between every trailer. This was especially noticeable and unpleasant when you had the Audio Commetnary option selected as sometimes they would continue talking between two trailers. I tried editing each clip to have them finish before the trailer ended, but it was a lot of work and the playback was still clunky. You would even hear the player itself making noises between each trailer. Just overall, not good for a commercial release.
I went back and made one master timeline with the audio commentary as track 2. I created a Chapter Playlist for each trailer and all is well. The only downside of this method that I've seen is that Pop Up Menus do not work on Chapter Playlists for some reason, even though the timeline they're linked to has a popup menu when accessed directly through Play All.
