1. Re: Navigation bar links not working in Internet Explorer 7
Colby Ausen Oct 8, 2012 5:41 PM (in response to Somecraziness)Hi,
I've taken a look at the site in IE7 and I don't see any layout problems -- but I do notice that the menu items can't be clicked on. Are there any page items covering the menu in Design mode of Muse?
Can you attach a screenshot of the layout problems you're seeing? Keep in mind that IE7 mode of IE9 is not always accurate -- I've used an actual install of IE7 to view the site, as your users would.
Thanks,Colby

2. Re: Navigation bar links not working in Internet Explorer 7
Somecraziness Oct 8, 2012 5:59 PM (in response to Colby Ausen)That's the problem. The navigation menu can't be clicked on. The one CONFERENCE INFO tab has several subpage links that come down below it when you hover over that. And then the other menu links across the top can't be clicked on.
All works fine and beautiful in other browsers...and IE 8. But like I say, my problem is I know for a fact that several people who have to access this site also will be using antiquated IE 7...so I have to come up with an idea. I tried a Javascript redirect and it worked fine to redirect me to a different site...but it then screwed up my good code...lol. Not sure what I did wrong. I may just put a small link at the top of the page that says , "IR 7 users, click here" and redirect them that way to another html site.

Somecraziness Oct 8, 2012 6:02 PM (in response to Somecraziness)Here's the actual site... I went live with it today and just told all the committee members I will hash out the IE 7 problem tonight. You'll see I put a disclaimer across the top...lol.

Somecraziness Oct 8, 2012 6:28 PM (in response to Somecraziness)I'm messing around with that first link I gave you at Hellzabeth...in case you are still looking at it. I''m trying to see if I can just get rid of the submenues and do a vertical menu (which we had before that was bulky and I'm trying to get rid of by going horizontal with the submenues on the "new" site).

5. Re: Navigation bar links not working in Internet Explorer 7
Somecraziness Oct 8, 2012 7:18 PM (in response to Somecraziness)I had posted another thing...but I deleted it as I'm wrong. I made all my submenus into main pages and put all 14 links down the left side vertically in the navigation bar.
That seems to be working. So... I am wondering what "user error" I possibly could be doing in my design that doesn't quite work in IE 7... I will figure this out.

Colby Ausen Oct 8, 2012 7:36 PM (in response to Somecraziness)Can you send your .muse file to muse-support@adobe.com, with a link to this thread and to my attention? If your file is larger than 20mb you can use something like Adobe SendNow or SendThisFile.
Thanks,
Colby

7. Re: Navigation bar links not working in Internet Explorer 7
Somecraziness Oct 8, 2012 7:52 PM (in response to Colby Ausen)I'm going to try to send that to you. I went ahead and brought the live site back to a vertical navigation bar... the people who view the site are used to that style for the past few years, so it's not going to be the end of the world. It works mostly... but I still can't get all the pages to work in IE 7. On a few, the graphics are not right. And I still can't get a few of the links to actually link. Strange.
I'm tired... and giving up for the night. Thanks for any help you can provide. I realized one of my issues was telling Muse to only upload the modified pages. The last two times however, I have uploaded ALL files to be sure.

8. Re: Navigation bar links not working in Internet Explorer 7
Colby Ausen Oct 9, 2012 9:49 AM (in response to Somecraziness)Hi,
You have two blank image frames on the Master page that are covering the top two image items. It is very likely one (or both) of these frames were also covering most of your horizontal menu from your previous version (which was blocking the mouse clicks in IE7).
You can find them by either selecting all (Ctrl+A) on the Master page or clicking and dragging upwards from roughly the middle of the page. Removing these blank image frames solves the problem.
Thanks,

9. Re: Navigation bar links not working in Internet Explorer 7
Somecraziness Oct 9, 2012 10:10 AM (in response to Colby Ausen)Colby, you're absolutely right and a life saver! However, now I also want to add that that really stunk! Thank you for telling me about the control-A to see all the parts of the page because I could NOT see them at all. I'm not even sure how I accidentally put them there. And then when I tried to click on them to remove them, even that was a little difficult...but you are right...and I can't thank you enough!
I will definitely double check my master and other pages from now on out.

10. Re: Navigation bar links not working in Internet Explorer 7
Colby Ausen Oct 9, 2012 11:21 AM (in response to Somecraziness)Great, I'm glad that worked. I agree that it can be difficult to see transparent items in Muse -- sorry for the inconvenience!
