Unable to complete install on Windows XP / FireFox

Flash player downloads, and when I double click the downloaded package it starts to run. It deletes the file in the download directory and then just sits in the process tree of Windows Task Manager doing nothing.

I did eventually work around it, by downloading the MSI from http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/fp_distribution3.html

However there is still a bug in that the .exe version hangs.

I am able to install the Internet Explorer version, but this does not install a version for FireFox (I use both for different purposes - IE mainly for in-house). I have the same problem when trying to update the Adobe Reader from the FireFox plug-in check page. The package downloads, appears to run, deletes the file from the download directory and then hangs as a process in the process tree with nothing displayed on-screen.

Any ideas as to why the .exe hangs?

That's odd, something must be hanging it up.  This is definitely not a common occurrence.  Can you post the contents of your flashinstall.log file?

Where do I find the Flash Player installation log on Windows?
