1. Re: Vector shape anchors "snap" where I don't want them to
Noel Carboni Oct 9, 2012 12:32 PM (in response to jyeager11)When things snap in an unwanted way, often that behavior can be temporarily averted by pressing and holding the Control key. Does that help in this case?

jyeager11 Oct 9, 2012 12:42 PM (in response to Noel Carboni)Not in this case, no. CTRL is used to select multiple anchors, it has no effect on distance when pushing them around.

jyeager11 Oct 9, 2012 12:55 PM (in response to R_Kelly)That did it, thank you
Adobe seems to have misunderstood people's needs with this option. While it is nice to have anchors snap into place, it would be much more useful to have them snapping to pixels rather than snapping at a DISTANCE of 1 pixel from the original position.
Example : I have 2 anchors, both ALMOST aligned with one another. One just needs a bit of (microscopic) nudging to be perfectly aligned with the other. If you snap to pixel, then both will snap to the same row of pixels. BAM! Problem solved. But the way Adobe now has it, if the anchors are microns apart, and you move them by 1 pixel (because that's what the Snap Vector option does) then the two anchors are still microns apart.
Know what I mean? Imagine trying to level a shelf on your wall that is slightly crooked... but you can only move either side by increments of 1 inch. You'll never get that thing aligned.
Which is ironic because SNAPPING should make it EASIER to aligne 2 anchors that are not perfectly aligned... instead, it makes it impossible.

jumpyone Apr 24, 2013 7:00 AM (in response to jyeager11)I agree with jyeager11. Also, I'm wondering if Adobe has any designers at all working there that use Photoshop? Why would they hide this option in the preferences? I am CONSTANTLY having to open the preferences to turn this snapping on and off. It needs to be a menu item or a little tick box in the context bar. Somewhere that is easier to get to. It can literally eat 2 minutes out of my day for the amount of times I have to turn this feature on and off because I use vector shapes so much.

R_Kelly Apr 24, 2013 2:44 PM (in response to jumpyone)Hopefully it'll be easier to get to in a future release, but in the meantime you could record an action for on and one for off and then maybe assign a shortcut key.

jumpyone Apr 25, 2013 6:10 AM (in response to R_Kelly)The action idea helps considerably. Thanks for that suggestion! I didn't know you could assign actions to preference items.
