1. Re: Problems playing Encore-burned BD-RE's
John T Smith Oct 11, 2012 9:07 AM (in response to BJBBJB1)You are already creating an image, so use the FREE http://www.imgburn.com/index.php?act=download to write files or folders or ISO to disc for DVD or BluRay (send the author a PayPal donation if you like his program)
.
When you write to disc with Imgburn, use the SLOWEST possible speed setting, so your burner has the best chance to create "good, well formed" laser burn holes... since no player is required to read a burned disc, having a "good" one from a high quality blank will help

Alan Craven Oct 11, 2012 9:32 AM (in response to BJBBJB1)In CS6 you have a choice in the disc Info section of building BD or BD-RE discs. Have you tried both of these?
I always burn a BD-RE to test for each project, but I have never bothered to build a BD-RE image - I always create a BD image and burn using IMGburn just as John suggests. Maybe your player is fussier than mine?

Ann Bens Oct 11, 2012 12:17 PM (in response to Alan Craven)Some BD players can be very fussy with BD-RE's.

4. Re: Problems playing Encore-burned BD-RE's
BJBBJB1 Oct 11, 2012 1:18 PM (in response to Alan Craven)I will have to checkout that BD vs. BD-RE settting. I believe I build with the BD setting because my thought process is that I want to "test-view" the exact same image on the BD-RE that I will be putting on the BD-R. And to clarify, my Blu-Ray standalone player plays these BD-RE's flawlessly, so it is not a fatal issue. It's the software player that is choking on it so I can't review the disc on the PC which is annoying.
I am currently burning with Encore...I can certainly try a burn with imgburn or I also have Nero which I can use. But my sense is it probably isn't a burn issue if my standalone player likes the disc. It is probably a bit-setting issue or something in there. Perhaps that BD vs. BD-RE burn option.
But if I burn/build an image with my BD-RE disc with a BD-RE build, and I like what I see, then when I am ready to build my image for a BD-R, I will need to re-build an image. Now theoretically they should be identical, but lets just say after doing this for many years, there can be gremlins sometimes and I kind of like knowing what I am burning to a BD-R as a final version is exactly what I just viewed!
Anyway, I will definitely try some of these ideas and see how it goes.
Thanks,
