flash player won't start

I've been downloading Flash Player a couple of time now becausesite like Wimp.com and Vimeo won't play videon and ask that I download Adobe Flash Player . Still after downloading video won't play on these site . Any ideas why?

My operating system is Windows 7 My browser is Microsoft Explorer I did not install the program thinking it was installing by it self How can I install it?
