1. Re: Why is Premiere Pro CS6 not recognizing my Photohop .PSD files?
John T Smith Oct 13, 2012 11:50 AM (in response to noy2014a)I do not use PSD, but I "dimly" remember a discussion about the KIND of PSD file making a difference... might have been something about 8bit or RGB versus "something else" not working in PPro

NilsW Oct 13, 2012 11:53 AM (in response to noy2014a)PSD files are supported by Premiere CS6 of course, better than ever before. But you have to be sure that the PSD is not in CMYK colorspace. It must be RGB. Unfortunately PrPro does not show a significant error message when importing a CMYK PSD.

Steven L. Gotz Oct 13, 2012 11:56 AM (in response to noy2014a)I am so sorry, but I really have to ask - you do have Photoshop installed on that computer, right?
Can you create a new Photoshop file from within Premiere Pro using the File/New/Photoshop File menu selections?
Is it possible that PSD files are pointed to a different application in Windows, rather than Photoshop?

4. Re: Why is Premiere Pro CS6 not recognizing my Photohop .PSD files?
noy2014a Oct 13, 2012 12:06 PM (in response to John T Smith)I don't think this is a matter of the type of PSD file, because Photoshop is not even listed an option to filter thru the available files. (As seen in the attached screen capture)
And yes, I absolutely have Photoshop CS6 installed on this computer.

Steven L. Gotz Oct 13, 2012 12:17 PM (in response to noy2014a)Do you have the File/New/Photoshop File menu option?
I guess I am looking for a way to avoid telling you to reinstall both Premiere Pro and Photoshop.

noy2014a Oct 13, 2012 12:22 PM (in response to Steven L. Gotz)File > New> Photoshop File, then name/save will create an blank file at that location, but will not launch in Photoshop. I would need to manually open it.

7. Re: Why is Premiere Pro CS6 not recognizing my Photohop .PSD files?
NilsW Oct 13, 2012 12:27 PM (in response to Steven L. Gotz)Okay, thats strange....I have Photoshop in the list. There must something be wrong with your installation. So I guess you to reinstall both programs or at least Premiere.
By the way I can definitively say that Premiere does not support CMYK PSD files. I had this problem some days ago. After converting to rgb, Premiere had no Problems with the PSD.

9. Re: Why is Premiere Pro CS6 not recognizing my Photohop .PSD files?
noy2014a Oct 13, 2012 12:38 PM (in response to Steven L. Gotz)It has that correct icon.
Besides, even if I didn't have Photoshop installed, and even if I didn't have a single PSD file on my harddrive,.... Photoshop would still be listed in the "File Type" section. Doesn't that sound logical?

10. Re: Why is Premiere Pro CS6 not recognizing my Photohop .PSD files?
Steven L. Gotz Oct 13, 2012 12:42 PM (in response to noy2014a)Well, I was thinking that PSD might be pointing to the wrong icon, and fixing that problem could fix your issue.
But now it just looks like I have to give up and say "reinstall both applications. Premiere Pro first. Then Photoshop." And if that doesn't do it, install Photoshop first and then Premiere Pro.
