1. Re: Why are my blur filter menus all grey. They don't work.
conroy Oct 5, 2012 3:32 PM (in response to KokoBlue)Ensure you have a regular pixel layer targeted (not Adjustment, Shape, Fill, Type, Smart Object or 3D) and no path is targeted, otherwise the Blur Gallery menu items will be grayed.
Most filters are available in the menu with all layer types except Adjustment, and will prompt to rasterize non-pixel layers, but the Blur Gallery filters and a few others will require these layers to be pre-rasterized for the menu items to be available. (An inconsistency in the user interface.)

2. Re: Why are my blur filter menus all grey. They don't work.
KokoBlue Oct 5, 2012 3:44 PM (in response to conroy)I'm on a duplicate layer of my photograph with the original photo-layer turned off and locked so as not to harm that one. So... Is this right? The blur menu's are still just grey.... no option to select.

charles badland Oct 6, 2012 5:34 AM (in response to KokoBlue)Are you in Quick Mask mode?
Hit Q and see if the new blur filters become active again..

5. Re: Why are my blur filter menus all grey. They don't work.
KokoBlue Oct 9, 2012 8:02 PM (in response to charles badland)I thought that I had answered this already. I got everything to work once
I went into preferences and turned off different checkmarks. Then
everything worked correctly. Don't underdstand, but don't care -- as long
as things work. Thank you to everyone who tried to help. I did post about
it somewhere on this site. lol. I'm still confused on how to get around
and what part of adobe wants my log in and what part doesn't. Sometimes
responding only works when I'm signed into the cloud and other times I can
post just thru email... oh well.

charles badland Oct 14, 2012 8:09 AM (in response to zky2010)Can you be more specific. What filters are grayed out? Have you checked to see if you are in Quick Mask Mode (hit the Q key)

8. Re: Why are my blur filter menus all grey. They don't work.
KokoBlue Oct 15, 2012 8:31 PM (in response to charles badland)Hi zky2010 and charles badland. I was reading another person's comments on
an unrelated issue they were having and just decided to give it a try - and
low and behold it worked. I can't say if this will work for you or not,
but here is what I did. In the Photoshop preferences, go to plug ins.
There is an extension panels box. Inside of this there are two
checkboxes. One says: Allow extensions to connect to the internet. The
other says, load extension panels. I UNCKECKED both of these and suddenly
everything seems to work fine. (Although I have no idea what other
consequences it may or maynot cause). I think it was just luck that I
stumbled upon it and tried it, but I'm happy. Please let me know if it
works for you also. Best, Megan

9. Re: Why are my blur filter menus all grey. They don't work.
zky2010 Oct 16, 2012 8:45 AM (in response to KokoBlue)Thanks so much for taking the time to answer back. But it did not work. Nothing is greyed out, if I pick the blur filter it is active for a few seconds and then disables, after that I can't click anywhere, I have to reset the workspace to get back to nomal mode... it stays stuck in filter mode, but I cant' click anywhere with results? It seems like it happened after I updated my Nvidia graphics driver, I have a GeForce GTX 550 Ti - Now on 306.97 driver version, I will roll back and see if the functionality comes back. Is there perhaps settings in the Nvidia Control panel that I can try?

KokoBlue Oct 20, 2012 2:48 PM (in response to zky2010)I'm sorry to learn that it didn't help. I don't know anything at all about
graphics drivers. I'm sorry that I can't help any further. Hopefully
someone else here might be able to help you more. I wish you well.

zky2010 Oct 23, 2012 5:34 AM (in response to KokoBlue)I rolled back the Nvidia driver installation and now the blur (tilt/ field/ iris) function works again?? Not sure how this is braking my Photoshop CS6??

Chris Cox Oct 23, 2012 4:54 PM (in response to zky2010)Sounds like you need to talk to NVidia - why did the new driver installation break OpenCL support?
