1. Re: Problem in Importing MS Word 2010 (.docx) file into Indesign CS5 and 5.5: Is this is a BUG?
P Spier Oct 15, 2012 2:54 AM (in response to Green4ever)Word import can be funny. Sometimes an alternate format works better than the one you have, so try saving as .rtf and .doc and cehck to see if either of those works better.

Green4ever Oct 15, 2012 4:04 AM (in response to P Spier)Hi Peter,
Thanks for your attention. Yesterday itself I have rectified the problem by down saving it to 97-2003 format and completed the job. But now my question is will it be solved by the adobe developers? I hope that, it is not that much complex for their technology team.
OR
We have to live with its funny behavior? While speaking later on it looks like funny, however at the same time by means of deadline it swallows my one day and due that I'm one day behind now very very sad.
Thanks,
Green4ever

P Spier Oct 15, 2012 4:12 AM (in response to Green4ever)Problems with importing Word files have been around for a long time, and according to some users who do a lot of complex files they seem to get worse with each new version, rather than better. I don't know if it's the complexity of the Word files themselves or something in ID. All I can say is that the engineers are aware that there are issues, but I have no idea if or when improvements will happen.
For now, the best you can do is to be sure you accept or reject all changes in the Word files, do a Save As to rewrite the Word file clean, and cross your fingers, then choose a different format if it doesn't import correctly.

P Spier Oct 15, 2012 4:14 AM (in response to P Spier)I should add that jongware sometimes advocates placing the file in an earlier version of ID if you have trouble withthe current version, then export from there to ID Tagged Text which you can place in the current version.

Green4ever Oct 15, 2012 4:28 AM (in response to P Spier)Thank you very much peter. The information is sufficient enough about word vs indesign. Then I think this may be fixed in CS10 or later.
