Need help with downloading Adobe Flash Player

I need Adobe Flash Player for an online class I am taking.  Every time I try to download it I get the message "Only a single instance of this application can run"  I clock OK like the troubleshooting guides says, but it does not download.  I only have a week to get this working.

I have Windows XP 5.1.2600, and I just downloaded Firefox because that browser is also required
