1. Re: Offline/Missing Image Sequences in After Effects CS6 with Color Bars
Rick Gerard Oct 22, 2012 5:18 PM (in response to JakeHuddleston)An image sequence can be re-linked in exactly the same way that you relink stills or video. Just replace the footage with the same footage and make sure the sequence box is checked.
What kind of files are these? They are huge for video. What is the image format? If you're working in HD I'd batch resize the image sequences and use tiff or psd sequences.

Mylenium Oct 22, 2012 9:17 PM (in response to JakeHuddleston)As Rick said, image files behave just like any other image files. If they are RAW files, you may have an issue with your Camera Raw module. Could also be disk cache issues.

Jonas Hummelstrand Oct 22, 2012 10:24 PM (in response to JakeHuddleston)If your footage has moved, the counter-intuitive but best way to make sure AE finds it again is not to reload or replace it, but rather to double-click it in the Project panel.
Make sure you have imported your sequences as sequences (a sequence should be shown as one icon in the Project panel!)

4. Re: Offline/Missing Image Sequences in After Effects CS6 with Color Bars
JakeHuddleston Oct 23, 2012 10:07 AM (in response to Rick Gerard)Thanks everyone, I think I'm beginning to solve this.
Rick, thanks for your advice. I tried this and it worked. The reason I didn't do this before is that, because it is stop motion, I couldn't remember how many frames I had imported for each sequence. For instance, if I shot 54 images and only imported 52 into the sequence, I wouldn't remember which 52 images to import...this might still be causing a problem, but I don't know yet. I think in most cases I imported all the images in a folder, so the image sequences should be fine.
I am having another problem, however. Even though the issue seems to be fixed in AE, it doesn't seem to be fixed in Premiere...each image sequence is dynamically linked from AE, but each dynamically linked comp is still being show with color bars as they did in AE...I think that maybe my Premiere project is still linking to the old CS5.5 AE project, and not the new one opened and saved in CS6...

5. Re: Offline/Missing Image Sequences in After Effects CS6 with Color Bars
Jonas Hummelstrand Oct 23, 2012 10:16 AM (in response to JakeHuddleston)That's why it's better to double-click the missing footage and the locate it. Not only will AE find other missing footage at the new location, but you won't have to re-select specific ranges, just choose one file in the sequence.

JakeHuddleston Oct 23, 2012 10:19 AM (in response to Jonas Hummelstrand)Thanks Jonas. I didn't realize AE did this until I tried it; that really is an awesome feature! Saves a lot of time and hassle. I love it when I discover a feature I didn't know existed.

Jonas Hummelstrand Oct 23, 2012 10:27 AM (in response to JakeHuddleston)This should really be an option in the menu: "Relink footage..."

JakeHuddleston Oct 23, 2012 10:29 AM (in response to Jonas Hummelstrand)Agreed. Especially for dynamically linked comps...

9. Re: Offline/Missing Image Sequences in After Effects CS6 with Color Bars
JakeHuddleston Oct 23, 2012 1:12 PM (in response to Jonas Hummelstrand)I figured out a solution to my CS5.5 to CS6 dynamic link issue. When you open up a PPro CS5.5 project in CS6, it converts the project, but it still links back to AE CS5.5, even if you've opened and resaved the AE project in CS6. Simply move the AE 5.5 project file to another folder so when you open Premiere the next time, it asks where the AE CS5.5 project is. Find and choose the resaved AE CS6 project, and all dynamic links are restored.
