1. Re: Components seem to be missing from Photoshop CS5 since de-bugging PC by shop
c.pfaffenbichler Oct 22, 2012 1:41 AM (in response to TansySue)Are you sure this applies to all images and not just some that don’t meet the requirements for a specific Action (by being the wrong Color Mode for example)?
Is the command Channel Mixer available via the menu?

TansySue Oct 23, 2012 3:02 AM (in response to c.pfaffenbichler)Thanks for your response. My images (compact and DSLR) open in RGB 8 bit and the problem seem to be with all images on certain ACTIONS. The tools palett seems to be working fine as does some of the ACTIONS including the Channel Mixer, that's fine. So while the feather can be chosen and works via the brushes tool it is not av ailable in the pre-recorded ACTIONS in the Vignette request for example

TansySue Oct 23, 2012 3:59 AM (in response to c.pfaffenbichler)Sorry - there is a problem there too...... Although the clipboard is empty, when I try to print screen I get an error message to say "Item not collected - larger than clipboard capacity" This has never happened before. But I have recently installed a new HD screen and am running two screens could this be a problem too?

Terri Stone Oct 25, 2012 11:42 AM (in response to TansySue)Hi there,
This forum is for people learning the basics of Photoshop. It sounds like you're beyond the newbie stage, so I'm moving this thread to the Photoshop General Discussion forum, where you all can continue the discussion.

That's why the "command is unavailable" message appears. The Feather command acts on an already active selection marquee. If there is no selection then the command cannot run. Solution: make a selection before running the Action.

13. Re: Components seem to be missing from Photoshop CS5 since de-bugging PC by shop
TansySue Oct 26, 2012 11:09 AM (in response to TansySue)I hadn't made a selection as I wanted Vignette around corners of the whole pic. I have now selected the whole image before going to ACTIONS but the same error message appears.

14. Re: Components seem to be missing from Photoshop CS5 since de-bugging PC by shop
JJMack Oct 26, 2012 11:14 AM (in response to TansySue)The action name suggest to me the it expect there to be a active selection. The step also leads me to the same all it did was make a snapshot the tries to feather the active selection. That will fail it you failed to make a selection before running the action.

I forgot about that strange limitation: when the whole canvas is selected, the Select > Transform commands except Border are unavailable.

Have you looked into using Filter - Lens Correction for adding vignetting to an entire image?

Oops! I meant "Select > Modify", not "Select > Transform".
