1. Re: Why is my "Open in Adobe Audition" greyed out in PP cs6?
Bill Hunt Jul 16, 2012 4:30 PM (in response to Steve from NY)Steve,
- For this case, can you tell us all about your file? Is the Audio muxed with a Video Stream?
- What is the Audio format/CODEC?
- When you Rt-click on the Audio Clip, are most of the other functions shown in the list - just Edit in Audition grayed out?
- With a PCM/WAV "test Clip," do you get Edit in Audition with that?
Only time I have seen Edit in Audition to not be available, is when I have previously done a Render/Replace and Edit in Audition to it already. Then, I just Alt+clicked on the Audio to Select it, and then Edit in Audition became an active choice again.
Good luck,
Hunt

2. Re: Why is my "Open in Adobe Audition" greyed out in PP cs6?
Steve from NY Jul 16, 2012 4:44 PM (in response to Bill Hunt)Hey Bill,
Right Click Menu:
No mater what audio is in the TL "export to audition" is greyed out. Everything else in the context menu is available. Seems as though the dynamic link is bad between the 2. I tryed mp3,wav, mp2, avi & all greyed out.
The top "edit" menu:
"Edit in audition is NOT greyed out. I then choose "sequence" because "Clip" is greyed out too.
but then the check box for "Open in Audition" is greyed out so Audition doesnt open

5. Re: Why is my "Open in Adobe Audition" greyed out in PP cs6?
aeroswed Aug 23, 2012 8:01 AM (in response to JSS1138)What I do is that I mark the sequence, then select Edit->Edit in Adobe Audition->Edit Sequence.... after that PP starts exporting to Audition - but nothings happens and Audition is never launched. Notably, in the dialogoe boc that opens the "Open in Adobe Audition" check box is greyed out. Also, Adobe Audition->Edit Clip is greyed out. And..... Edit->Edit original as you suggest is also greyed out.
Now, if I select a clip in the time line (i.e. not just marking the sequence) then it is still not possible to Edit Clip, but now the Edit->Edit original is black and selectable. I haven´t used
that option before - but if I select it, then Windows Media Player just starts playing the media file. So what´s the purpose with that? I can´t see any relationship with Audition.
Regards, Peter

6. Re: Why is my "Open in Adobe Audition" greyed out in PP cs6?
_techkid123_ Aug 23, 2012 10:59 AM (in response to Steve from NY)Hi
Was Adobe Audition installed seperately , What i mean to say is that premiere pro was installed before Adobe Auditions?
Looks like dynamic link error.
We can Certainly try to reinstall the entire suite, Just make sure that we are installing the entire suite at one go so that there should be no error with dynamic link
Hope it Helps
Thanks

sebrame Oct 31, 2012 1:55 PM (in response to Steve from NY)Was anyone able to resolve this? We've just developed the same problem...considering a re-install.

cvid01 Oct 31, 2012 2:32 PM (in response to sebrame)If considering a re-install, try installing Audition first, then PrPro. That way PrPro will notice that Audtion is available. At least, that worked for me.

9. Re: Why is my "Open in Adobe Audition" greyed out in PP cs6?
aeroswed Nov 1, 2012 1:32 AM (in response to cvid01)I had installed my suite by first having the evaluation license of PrPro CS5.5, then evaluation license for Production Premium CS 5.5. before I then purchased Production Premium CS6. Probably the problam was due to first installing PrPrp separately. If I remember right I simply de-installed everything and then just installed the entire Production Premium suite in one go just following the installer.

crayag Nov 27, 2012 7:51 AM (in response to aeroswed)I have this exact problem. I also have the Master Collection, PC version. Mine was an upgrade from CS5.5 and was a complete install. Is there any other way apart from a complete re-install?

11. Re: Why is my "Open in Adobe Audition" greyed out in PP cs6?
CoreyCCM Sep 26, 2013 6:46 AM (in response to Steve from NY)Look for the default .sesx files in your Document/Adobe/Audition/6.0/Session Templates folder (on Windows 7)
There should be a list of preset .sesx files. Right-click one and set its default application as Adobe Audition by using the "open with" option.

inaksi prod Apr 28, 2014 8:38 PM (in response to Steve from NY)I had the same problem. My problem was that there were two ADOBE files in MYDOCUMENTS. I fused them. Problem solved!

13. Re: Why is my "Open in Adobe Audition" greyed out in PP cs6?
jmoore807 Nov 3, 2014 9:26 AM (in response to CoreyCCM)I pretty much just did what CoreyCCM suggested but I deleted the .sesx file in 6.0 since I have 7.0 now.
After deleting I closed the programs, reopened and it was no longer greyed out and I was able to open and edit in Audition with that file. Not sure if that helps but it worked for me.

Alberto Bedin Nov 6, 2014 5:44 AM (in response to jmoore807)Fixed as jmoore.
However I didn't have any files in Session Templates folder so I created a news test.sesx file and the opened it with audition choosing "open from"

Empty Duck Digital Nov 20, 2014 5:24 PM (in response to Steve from NY)For those of you visiting this page because you're having this problem, what's happened is that Adobe, in it's infinite wisdom, has installed a second folder of program files when updating from 6.0 to 7.0 (or perhaps a smaller update). You need to eliminate duplicate folders so Premiere Pro understands where to look. I noticed that my Audition was all by itself in a second Adobe folder, so I moved its contents to the other Adobe folder with the rest of the program's files and made sure they sat squarely in the Audition folder where they once were. I then right clicked on one of the .sesx files and opened it with Audition and viola. I can edit Premiere audio in Audition again.
PS Adobe, I literally use this ONLY because the denoiser in Premiere Pro doesn't work for the first 2 seconds you play a clip. It takes away noise nicely, just never for the first two seconds after I hit the play button, as if it's trying to use that time to figure out what to remove. If it worked correctly, I wouldn't hear the noise go away in my videos after the first two seconds of a clip and I wouldn't have to export to Audition and waste hard-drive space and time.
