Suggestion for CS7 - Intelligent panning

Here's a feature request for Adobe Photoshop CS7. Intelligent Panning. Wouldn't it be nice if you could customize a panning radius so that while zoomed in on your work, if you move the cursor near the edge of the specified radius, it would intelligently (slower based on the zoom level) pan the image in the direction of your brush stroke. This way you could do detailed strokes in one movement rather than being forced to do them in several and try to get them lined up correctly. You could specify both an inner and outer radius and once you brush leaves the inner radius the screen would pan. Would be a really nice feature.

It's a great conceptual idea, don't get me wrong, but...

Wouldn't trying to paint while the canvas is moving be a bit like trying to hit a moving target?  Do you have an idea how that would be handled so that the brush stroke could remain accurate?

Well, if you have an inner and outer radius, then the canvas would always keep the center of your brush in view so you wouldn't loose track of the brush at all, the canvas would simply move with it. It would be more akin to holding a pen in one place on a piece of paper and then simply moving the paper to draw the line you want. In fact, on top of an inner and outer radius, if you could customize the pan speed that would also be really helpful.
