1. Re: Content aware and specifying an area NOT to use. How to?
TwitchOSX Nov 14, 2012 2:51 PM (in response to TwitchOSX)Heres an image of what's going on. All I did was select about 5 pixels into the dirt and sky on the right of the image and then a large portion of the white area on the right. I want it to content-aware fill the right side with sky and dirt. But as you can see, it's sampling part of the excavator in the results. I should be able to tell it somehow NOT to pull any of the excavator. Only sky and dirt. I'm sure I saw somewhere how to blot out somehow the parts of the image that I don't want content-aware to look at.

conroy Nov 14, 2012 3:12 PM (in response to TwitchOSX)Mask out anything that's not to be considered for Content Aware before using Content Aware.

TwitchOSX Nov 14, 2012 3:15 PM (in response to conroy)That's what I was thinking but how do I go about doing that? Not familiar really with masking.

TwitchOSX Nov 14, 2012 3:23 PM (in response to conroy)Hmm. I just watched this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7quTryYs-GI
But it didn't seem to work out.
I have one layer. It's not locked. I expanded the canvas to the left to fill in that area with dirt and sky. So, I hit the ... oh, I hit the "Add Vector Mask" button at the bottom of the layers palette. Still not seeing how to add a "regular" mask....

TwitchOSX Nov 14, 2012 3:25 PM (in response to TwitchOSX)Hmm.... I found the masks pallete and created a "pixel mask" and it's doing the same thing.

6. Re: Content aware and specifying an area NOT to use. How to?
TwitchOSX Nov 14, 2012 3:27 PM (in response to TwitchOSX)Maybe it's because I only had one layer and all the open room to the right that I created by enlarging the canvas size was white. I created a new layer below my main layer that is transparent and then deleted all the white. Then I selected a bit of the ground and sky after applying my mask and filled and it just filled the entire selection with some nasty brown.
