1. Re: Roll/Crawl Control
Steve Grisetti Nov 15, 2012 2:04 PM (in response to hal_ek)Yes, the Roll/Crawl option panel can be re-opened at any time.
How you do it, though, depends on which version of the program you're using.

2. Re: Roll/Crawl Control
Bill Hunt Nov 15, 2012 2:11 PM (in response to hal_ek)Remember that to apply the Roll/Crawl Presets, your Title must be Selected.
Good luck,

hal_ek Nov 15, 2012 7:34 PM (in response to Bill Hunt)Yes I expected that, but even when the text is Selected the controls are not available except as noted.

4. Re: Roll/Crawl Control
hal_ek Nov 15, 2012 7:35 PM (in response to Steve Grisetti)Do you mean that it is normal to have to open a new Text roll to get to the controls?

5. Re: Roll/Crawl Control
hal_ek Nov 15, 2012 7:36 PM (in response to Steve Grisetti)Sorry; I am using a trial version of Premeire Elements 11.

6. Re: Roll/Crawl Control
Steve Grisetti Nov 16, 2012 6:28 AM (in response to hal_ek)How else are you going to control roll/crawl without using the functions in the Text/Roll option panel?
What exactly are you trying to control or change?

7. Re: Roll/Crawl Control
hal_ek Nov 18, 2012 10:12 AM (in response to Steve Grisetti)I guess that My original post was not as clear as I hoped.
To restate; If I have a roll text on a track but now want to adjust any of the controls often the crawl/roll control panel is not available (grayed out). The only way that I have found to make the crawl/roll contol available is to start a new roll text on a track (even tho I did not want a second one). Now the controls can be used for either the original or the new text depending on which is selected. Usually if I delete the second text the control panel will no longer be available unless I again start a new roll text.
Again to note: I am using a trial version of Premiere Elements 11 on Windows XP.

Steve Grisetti Nov 18, 2012 11:03 AM (in response to hal_ek)After you double-click on the title on your timeline, how are you selecting roll/crawl options?

9. Re: Roll/Crawl Control
Bill Hunt Nov 18, 2012 3:10 PM (in response to hal_ek)but even when the text is Selected the controls are not available except as noted.
The "Selecting," that I am talking about is Selecting the Title on the Timeline, not an Object in the Title, like Text, in the Title Editing Panel - the Titler.
I could not find a tutorial on PrE Titler, with the Roll/Crawl Preset, but did find a general Title tutorial for PrE: http://tv.adobe.com/watch/adobe-digital-school-collection/adding-titles/
Then, a tutorial for PrPro CS 6 (note: some aspects WILL be different), but Roll/Crawl are covered about 2/3 of the way through: http://tv.adobe.com/watch/learn-premiere-pro-cs6/creating-and-editing-titles/
Hope that "reading between the lines" on the second one is not too confusing.
Good luck,
Hunt

13. Re: Roll/Crawl Control
hal_ek Nov 19, 2012 9:13 AM (in response to Steve Grisetti)Sorry that I was so thick about this.
What "select" meant to me was clicking on the text on the timeline. I now realize that I needed to double click to open the Crawl/Roll panel. I was using that method to edit the text but thought the panel should be available with the single click.
Thanks for your patience! Also thanks for the tutorial reference I will be using them.

14. Re: Roll/Crawl Control
Bill Hunt Nov 19, 2012 2:10 PM (in response to hal_ek)No problem. Both of those operations are Selecting - one is for the entire Title, where the other is for an Object in the Title - in this case a Text Object. It works the same for other Objects, like Shapes, Images, Lines, etc.
Good luck,
Hunt
