My development PC took a dive and most of the good PCs that I can find locally now come with Windows 8. I really, really don't want to go that route, but if I end up having to, will the CS6 products work OK?
Will Windows 8 work permanently in the "desktop mode" so that can run multiple apps and have all my windows visible as with Windows 7? I've fumbled around in the store a bit and am really confused as to how to go about using Windows 8 in the way that I've been using the earlier editions for years!

According to the following chart, Dreamweaver is compatible with Windows 8: http://www.adobe.com/support/OScompatibility.html.
However, I have not tested it myself.

A couple of weeks ago, several CS6 apps began having launch issues on my Windows 7 workstation. I spent some time trying to solve the issue, but due to a heavy workload, I ultimately decided to purchase a new hard drive and quickly reinstall everything. I decided on a multi-boot environment with Windows 8 on the new drive.
To boot into the desktop I used Start8: http://www.stardock.com/products/start8/
To get rid of that annoying lock screen on boot I did this: http://www.techrepublic.com/blog/window-on-windows/disable-the-lock-screen-in-windows-8-forever/6257
With those two items resolved, I'm finding Windows 8 to be faster than 7, in both bootup time and in day to day activities. So far, all CS6 Cloud apps are working flawlessly.

I recently bought a laptop with Windows 8 and while I'm pretty famililar with PC's the dual metro/desktop mode is jarring and annoying. I do like the desktop improvements in Windows 8 but I do miss the start button. I recently tried this free app https://www.pokki.com/ to bring back the start bar and apparently you can boot straight into the dekstop with it.
From what I understand app/program compatability with Windows 8 should be really close to Windows 7. Going to try Creative Cloud on the laptop this weekend to confirm.I'm really tempted to upgrade my main Windows 7 desktop to Windows 8 to take advantage of the $40 upgrade price and if Creative Cloud & Pokki work on the lappy really well I'll probably go with it.

There's also Start8 ($5) which I have found to be excellent:

Start button is now an entire page.. it works good enough, use the search function if you want more speed.
I'm running CS6 on Win8 but i'm getting out of memory errors daily.. VERY annoying.
