Harm Millaard Nov 22, 2012 9:13 AM (in response to Mark Morreau)They are type 1 and you need type 2. So you need to rewrap them.

6. Re: "File Import Failure Unsupported format or damaged file" in CS6 but fine in CS5.5
Mark Morreau Nov 22, 2012 9:19 AM (in response to Harm Millaard)Harm, the .avi in the top picture imports just fine into CS6, despite being type 1.
The .avi in the bottom picture does not import into CS6, but it does import into CS5.5Therefore I don't think it's a type 1 or 2 issue.
What I'm trying to figure out is why one .avi file should import into CS6 and not another, despite them seeming to show identical attributes in Gspot. -
7. Re: "File Import Failure Unsupported format or damaged file" in CS6 but fine in CS5.5
JSS1138 Nov 23, 2012 6:01 PM (in response to Mark Morreau)The size of the second file could be a factor. Take Harm's advice and change it to AVI 2.0, see if that helps.

8. Re: "File Import Failure Unsupported format or damaged file" in CS6 but fine in CS5.5
Howard V Mills Dec 11, 2012 8:25 AM (in response to JSS1138)Mark, I too recently started using the MRC1 and ran into the exact issue you're experiencing when I inadvertently recorded to DV rather than HDV. Were you ever able to figure this out?
Jim - how does one change from AVI 1.0 to AVI 2.0?
Thank you,
HM

9. Re: "File Import Failure Unsupported format or damaged file" in CS6 but fine in CS5.5
Mark Morreau Dec 11, 2012 8:51 AM (in response to Howard V Mills)Howard, I didn't get to the bottom of it, just filed a bug report, since it's clearly a bug as previous versions of Premiere import the file just fine.
I used the DVRecoverer utility to make Premiere CS6 import the file. Here's the link:

10. Re: "File Import Failure Unsupported format or damaged file" in CS6 but fine in CS5.5
Howard V Mills Dec 12, 2012 6:14 AM (in response to Mark Morreau)I agree, it does seem like a bug. I was able to import my footage by using a free utility (DVdate) to convert from AVI type 1 to AVI type 2.
I hope this info will be helpful to someone.
Thank for your help,
HVM
