P Spier Nov 27, 2012 5:15 AM (in response to lister110)Place the page in a new file and scale it there.

lister110 Nov 27, 2012 5:18 AM (in response to P Spier)mmm, I would rather it scale in a new document as we may make some amends later on. Is it that difficult to scale Effects in indesign, it just doesnt seem to work?

3. Re: Scale effects in indesign Cs5
P Spier Nov 27, 2012 5:25 AM (in response to lister110)I never scale effects, myself.
But I used to work in a large format output service. There's no reason you have to prepare the file at full size. They can scale the output from your original, if that makes life simpler.
Here's my take on shadows. The size of the shadow is related to the distance of the object off the surface on which the shadow is projected and is independent of the size of the object (once upon a time I was a physics major). making the shadow larger or smaller tells the viewer that the object is further away or closer to the surface. In my opinion, the best way to deal withthis is to define the shadows as part of the object style, and edit the style if you want to change the size of the shadow.

lister110 Nov 27, 2012 5:30 AM (in response to P Spier)I have some bevels which will need to be scaled as well. I suppose its not like illustrators Scale stroke and effects option..

P Spier Nov 27, 2012 5:46 AM (in response to lister110)I'd do that as part of the object style, too.

6. Re: Scale effects in indesign Cs5
Mr. Andersson Sep 9, 2014 2:27 AM (in response to lister110)It looks like this is finally fixed in InDesign CC 2014. The general setting "scale effects" in the top right corner is affecting drop shadows too now.
