Is there a way to automatically insert the total number of pages like the current page number insert. I have "Page A of X" set up on the master and will manually insert the correct number when the document is done, But I'm thinking with all the cool and groovy things INDD does, there has gotta be a way. Am I wrong?
Thanks,
Joe
You can by inserting a text variable called "Last Page Number". You define a text variable by choosing Type > Text Variables > Define. You might want to read about it in InDesign Help.

Hi Andrew,
total pages could be different to last page number.
Think of the text variable last page number as the name of the last page in the document.
Example:
A document that has 12 pages and the start page number is a.
Total pages would be: 12
Last page number is: m
( if there is no other section with a different numbering scheme ).
