timed out preventing installation

Hello to whoever is out there. I find I can't download an offered update for Flash Player. Several times I have received a "timed out" error message, always at exactly the same time (47%). I have not had this problem before and have not knowingly altered anything on my computer.  I have XP 32 bit, use Firefox, and currently have version 11.4.402.287 installed and working. On one of my attempts I forgot to uncheck the MacFee option and that downloaded and installed OK. I had to go and uninstall it. Any suggestions will be most gratefully received.

Use the offline installer from http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/installation-problems-flash-player-windows.html#main-pars_hea... - it also does not contain any bundled software.
