Steve Grisetti Dec 6, 2012 4:34 PM (in response to Jeff A Wright)If your installation created a Program Files(x86) folder for a 64-bit program, you've definitely installed the wrong version of the software on your computer.
Did you install from disk or from a download?
How fast is your processor and how much RAM do you have? If you've got an XP machine, it's likely it's over 5 years old and pre-dual-core -- so you may not have the power to work well with version 11.

hal_ek Dec 6, 2012 7:40 PM (in response to Steve Grisetti)Thanks for your reply!
I both manually looked, and searched, can't find any (X64) file. Where would file be generated?
I did install from disk.
My CPU is an Intel Core2 Duo 2 core @ 2.2Ghz
Have 2 GB memory
Just shy of 5 yrs old.
I have been using Prem Pro 1.5 for many yrs. I bought this because I will be working with Pe 11 where I do volunter work and I am anticipation moving up to Win 7 here at home. Is Win 8 an option?
That brings up annother question. What steps do I need to take to install Pe 11 & PS 11 on a different computer?

Steve Grisetti Dec 7, 2012 5:30 AM (in response to hal_ek)You definitely need to upgrade to 4 gigs of RAM. That minimal RAM load could account for your issues -- especially if you're also getting tight (under 30 gigs free) with space on your C drive.
Your computer is at the lower end of the real world system requirements, but you should be able to edit standard miniDV on it. You'll likely have problems editing MP4s or hi-def video.
Which disk did you install from?
The program works great on an adequately powered Windows 7 computer -- even better on a Windows 7 64-bit system with more than 4 gigs of RAM. I can't speak for Windows 8, though it should work on it too.
Your license allows you to install the program on two different computers, assuming you own both systems.

JMJarrige Dec 7, 2012 11:29 AM (in response to hal_ek)If you are running XP, only around 3 Gb can be used by the system. You can upgrade with 1gb ,
normally you could find improvements.
My laptop Vista, 5 years old, having only 2Gb worked well with Premiere Elements 9 for DV and HDV clips.

hal_ek Dec 9, 2012 1:58 PM (in response to Steve Grisetti)A reply again. With more Questions.
To answer your question. I installed the program from a DVD disk that contained both the Prem. Elements 11 & Photoshop Elements 11. The only ID I can find is a number "91076502 9/12". Thus far I have not yet installed the PS.
I understand that my lower memory might slow things down for encoding and such, but so far I have been experimenting with the Program itself trying to understand the control locations and such. This is where I have been wondering about my installation.
From those trials I have a few new Questions.
1. The system seems to often halt with the Saving Project Dialog box showing 100%. Usually that box will display a close when it hits 100%. I have the preference set to every 5 minutes. Problem? To get back working I must hit the cancel button.
2. Is there no way to move the monitor panel within the Pe 11 window? I found the magnifcation control, but no position control.
3. Similarly is there no way to save the postion, size, etc of the working window? For example I had turned on the Audio Meters but they disappear for each project or when reopenning the same project.
4. I have been trying to learn the Text controls but can not find how to add strokes to Text. Can you tell me how to add them correctly? I made a new Style using the Arial Text and it included a Stroke 0. When I try to add the stroke width it appears as drop shadow rather than an outline on the letters. An interesting style that came preinstalled is "Lithos Gold Strokes 52" it shows ten strokes. How are those added or removed.
