This one gets tricky, in part because you appear to be in London,

England....

First, the normal process for downloading ebooks is from the library to a

computer, and that involves ADE. Since this is the 'normal' process, many

libraries and ebook distributors use the process ASSUMING you're

downloading to a computer.

Next, ADE installs only on Macs with Snow Leopard or below. It does NOT

install on iPads, iPods or iPhones.

Ergo, it appears that the way the library has set up Overdrive, they are

expecting the destination 'computer' to have ADE installed.

Try talking with the technical support people at the library, and explain

that you're trying to download the ebook to an iPad directly. I know that

there are lots of libraries in the States that have a different procedure

in place for Apple devices.

Hopefully, that will help. If not, then we have to take a different

approach.

I just had this problem come up with a customer.

First, I'm assuming you are using the Overdrive Media Console on your iPad (There is is no ADE app?)

Check your date and time and time zone. The message we had with "Error 2004" said that we could not download at X time before X time. I went in to check her date and time and even though it technically showed today's date and time, the time zone was set to Detroit. We switched it to Calgary (which was the closest we could get to our location; apparently Apple doesn't include all locations) and we could download her eBooks

Hope this helps!

I have successfully borrowed and downloaded titles direct to my iPad2 from Hampshire (UK) library using Overdrive Media Console,

so it is possible in the UK.  I can't see any special time zones to set.

The app does seem a little dodgy.

It refuses to remember my library card number even though I checked the box.

Each time I try to download a new book, it usually objects first time (sorry I forget the message), but then works second time.

So, sorry I can't help with the details, but you can at least be a bit sure it should work in the end.

As I have other reader devices, I generally use a different route you could try if you can't get Overdrive to work.

It might me convenient for you, or at least work for you, or might just be silly,

  1. Download book to PC using ADE
  2. Install Dropbox and Bluefire Reader on the iPad
  3. Copy book (either the .acsm or .eupb) to Dropbox on the PC.
  4. When it arrives in Dropbox on the iPad, it will say it can't open it.
Go to the top right icon (arrow pointing down into box) and your should have an 'Open with Bluefire Reader' option.

I must admit that this didn't work for a recent poster to whom I suggested it.

If you only want it on the iPad, you could transfer the .acsm file and avoid ADE on the PC altogehter.

Hey, just came across this problem and found a solution. The fix is simple in IOS go to settings>general>date and time> change 24 hour time to on. switch back to over drive app and autorize the account. when the authorisation is sucessful change back 24 hour to 12 hour.

This is not my own idea came across it on

Credit goes to them

Hope this helps.
