I'm not an expert in this, I was just passing on what Barry suggested I do.

After I repaired the permissions the problem was still there for me. After powering down the computer then starting it up again Abobe was still asking for the serial number.

The next day when I switched on the computer and started up Photoshop CS6 no problem had gone.

I'm still on 13.0.2. I don't want to upgrade to 13.0.3 now that it's working OK.

This thing seems to be effecting everyone differently. I was just explaining that what Barry had suggested worked for me.

I'm not sure how this keeps getting missed. It's simple. Uninstall.

Reinstall. Only update Adobe Camera RAW 7.3 from with the help, update menu

within PS itself. Then go to adobe.com, downloads, type in a search for PS

CS6 13.0.1, download, install, and that's all you do.

after these corrupted update only the bridge and acrobat are functionally.

indesign, illustrator and photoshop are not working.

who will pay the failure for the jobs i can't finish?

after installing the patch for 13.0.3. it is 13.0.3, not 13.0.2 - the problem further exists.

sorry, but this is absolutely **** - i have to work and since adobe is so interested that

it is impossible to open a file in an older version i'm not able to open any indesign

or illustratorfile - in photoshop all new features i needet are in the older version not

            available.

I'll second that. The solution is simple.  Forget the updates. Forget repairing permissions. Just go back to 13.01. The 13.03 update does not fix the problem.

I think probably lots of people discovered it simultaneously. Reinstalling is always one of the first things you think about when something like this happens. It took me two shots in fact as the first time I made the mistake of going back to 13.02.

Of course there may be people who can't go back - somebody said Cloud subscribers are not be able to do it? And there are people like sungyle who really doesn't feel confident enough to tinker with his (I presume) system even though it is simple. And there are others who are having similar licensing problems which are not related to the PSCS6 update.

But I do get the feeling there are some people who just won't take their medicine. They want Adobe to fix it yesterday even though that is impossible. Well if they want to bang their heads off the wall rather than accept the fix, that is up to them.

i've tryed to replace illustrator, indesign and photoshop wirth the older versions from my time-machine-backup, but the message is the same. i can only launch the programms as tryal-versions.

can anybody tell me which files are defect and where i can find the corrupted files - maybe a replacement of these files with an older backup-file could help.

Fortunately I kept the original download installer, so I uninstalled Photoshop CS6 and then installed without the 1 gig download before updating to 13.0.1. So far so good but if I had problems getting that large download for whatever reason I'd be pretty fed up right now. One point possibly worth adding is that I didn't select the option to remove preferences when uninstalling Photoshop, so it all looked the same after reinstalling.

I've only got Photoshop so I don't know if your problem is the same as mine and most other people who have been posting in this thread. What I did was uninstall and reinstall. You could try that -  it's what I would do. But if you are a Cloud subscriber, I'm afraid I have no idea what you would do.

Cloud subscribers also have the ability to go back to the CS6 version.

Sorry I don't have better news to share but as has been mentioned a few times, going back to the CS6 version and then applying the 13.0.1 update is the only good known solution at this point.

The cause is a bug in the licensing component that is intermittent and only happens on certain machines.

That is useful to know Barry. I'm not sure where I read that but clearly it was erroneous. The other thing to clarify in relation to Photoshop is that it is safe to get the ACR 7.3 update through the program updater. If you don;t get this and you have Lightroom 4.3, you get a message about where you want to render the raw file because of incompatibilties between the raw converters. This was confusing for me as I wasn't sure what to choose so I did the ACR update only through Photoshop. No problems and I'm 6 days in now so I guess it's working.

I updated to Camera Raw 7.3 through Photoshop and had no problems just now processing a Raw file in Lightroom 4.3. In the file info it shows it was processed by camera Raw 7.3.

I probably didn't explain that properly. What I meant was that if you don't update to ACR 7.3, you get a potentially confusing message about incompatibilities when going from Lightroom to editing in Photoshop. I've done as you have.

I was probably just reading too quickly. In any case it doesn't look like there's any major reason not to update to ACR 7.3.

I think Adobe is trying to be everything to everybody, and to satisfy their shareholders and financial analysts who write articles about Adobe.

Software seems to be coming out as fast as computers keep changing and car models change - annually.

A company (any company) cannot keep changing and developing a product at such a hectic pace without something suffering.

I just decided to download a multi-machine (laptop, desktop, cellphone, pad, and other devices) called Adobe Revel.

Check it out - enough said!

Forget about what Richard wrote. That works for some people but  in many cases, the problem just resurfaces.

What you need to do is:

                                          1. Navigate to your Photoshop folder under (Hard Drive): Applications and you should see a file named Uninsntall Adobe Photoshop CS6 or something like that.

                                          2. Click on it and follow the instructions - don't tick the option to Remove Preferences or you will lose all your prefs

                                          3. When it is uninstalled, reinstall from the DVD  or downloaded version. You will need your serial number.

                                          4. Go to the Adobe updates site and get the 13.01 update.

                                          5. Install that.

                                          6. If you need the more recent version of ACR, it is safe to update it from within Photoshop.

That should be it. You should have a working version which doesn't have the bug.

Easy?  Not for this ignorant, stupid, illiterate old man.

Step 3: What are the steps finding the downloaded version of CS6?  Where is it?  Do I have to go to an Adobe web site?  where in that web site?  How do I re-download my CS6?

Step 4: Got a link to the Adobe update site?  Do they list all the update version so I can choose which to update?  btw, if, in step 3, I downloaded a certain whatever CS6 to re-install, what version would that be?  Why do I need to update that?  I am ignorant, stupid, illiterate, old and timid.  This download (a whatever version), reinstall, update (to a less current version) does not look logical to me.  I am sorry.

How does that affect all my purchased plug ins?  The last time I updated to CS6, it took me a month emailing with all my plug in suppliers who had to tell me how to redownload reinstall all my plug ins and it took me a month...  Do I have to go through that again?  and by the end of next month, won't Adobe already come up with a fix?  They can't be more ignorant, stupid, illiterate and older than me, can they?  (Is it like by the time my rockets gets to Planet X, the kids 3 generation behind me has already arrived and built a city there awaiting my arrival... make sense?)

Just 10 minutes ago, again, I had to retype the 24 numbers in so I can work with a trial copy of CS6 extended with only 25 days left.  What the heck happened to that one I paid for that I am supposed to be able to use until I die (and that won't be too long if I keep on getting cheesed off this way...)

I paid cash for my car.  It's supposed to be mine with no milage limit.  I can drive to Canada, go across, drive down to Mexico, and not to have to worry about milage when I trade it in for a new one.  But, hey, I just woke up and found that the car dealer switched the contract and switched my car to a rental/lease car even I paid cash for the whole thing.  Now, I have only so many clicks left before they will charge me milage... unless, I am supposed to change the engine doing it in my kitchen and everything will be ok.  I am too fleaking timid to change the engine.  I am sorry. My bad.

Is there a class action somewhere I can join so I can sue the car dealership for contract violation?  Does anyone understand what I am saying?

OK, I will go take an Asprine and sit down.  ttul.

It's very late here, so I'll address one question:

Go to adobe.com, then to My Adobe, then to Orders. You'll see your CS6

product. Click on the triangle and drop down the details. There you'll see

                                                where to download it.

Download it. Open Photoshop. In the Help menu, click on updates. Untick

everything but Adobe Camera Raw 7.3. You may install that.

Then go to adobe.com, Downloads, and type in CS6 13.0.1. Download and

                                                install ONLY that update.

You should be OK. I've had 4 days without any problems.

I have Photoshop CS6 in Cloud Creative.  I saw a problem with Photoshop CS6 when I could not create a new document nor open an existing one.  I clicked on the links in Help and saw that it thinks it's a Trial Version.  And there were no updates needed then.  Now after 3 hours, there are updates, but as you see above when I ran them, they didn't work.  I've already lost 3 hours of dev time tonight -- please, Adobe, fix the problem so I can work tomorrow (Sunday)!!

So today's wrinkle on the problem was that I launched Photoshop and get the regular (licensed) splash screen and then over the application window an error message that says there's a problem with the license and that I should restart my computer and try again. If the problem persists contact Adobe support. The error was 129.9

I quit Photoshop and started it up again - didn't reboot my Mac Pro - and the product ran fine with no complaint about the license.

I have already entered my serial number twice to get rid of the trial mode and now this. As far as I can see the only change was that I restarted my mac earlier in the day (CS6 was not running at the time) and this was the first time I ran Photoshop after the restart.

I am receiving e-mail updates on this thread and unless I've missed it, I don't recall anyone else mentioning error 129.9. Mac Pro (early 2008) OS X 10.8.2 Photshop CS6 13.0.2

I ran the update again, and this time it went through.  But I still cannot create a new file or open anything.

                                                        Thank you.

I am lucky it is only 1 am here.

I have only 6 more photos from the funeral to do.

I promise you, I will seriously consider the uninstall, go back to 13.0.1 after my job is finished.  For now, I will not rock my boat going under the hood, not yet.  I want to be sure my feeble humble little computer system will continue to work a little longer so the widow will see her photos.

I must thank everybody in here who assure me that I am not crazy; that there is indeed a problem with Adobe.

I am also most grateful to hear that Adobe is now aware of the problem and is working on a fix.

I hope that the fix will be there before I really need to get under the hood.

Photoshop is a good program. These guys are very professional. It had been working well before and I am sure it will work well in the future.

joyseeker, you seem to have a different problem which may but is probably not directly related to what we have been discussing here. I don't know how the Creative Cloud works as I just have CS6 with a perpetial license but, if that happened to me. I would try first resetting the PS prefs and if that didn't work I would reinstall the program (and I would not go on to the most recent updates). I don't know if that would work for you  - I am a mere user not an expert.

After a fourth time getting the evil pop-up I dedicded to forget inputting my serial number again...it clearly doesn't work.  I decided to follow ClintGryke's advice and uninstalled CS6 13.03 and reinstalled CS6.  I then updated to 13.0.1 and also to the latest ACR.  All my preferences and plugins are still in place and all is well.

Thanks, Clint for the excellent instructions..they worked perfectly.

I hate to say this, but I will not be installing any future updates just because Adobe says they are available.  I'll wait awhile, check this forum for any problems, and then decide.

I've been reading through this thread and noticed that a lot of posts are from Mac users.  I just want to clarify that the problem also exists on Windows machines.  I got hit with this on a Vista 64bit installation that has been trouble free until now.

I have never liked Product Activation and at the moment I'm pretty much hating it.  It doesn't seem particularly customer friendly to build a system into your software that is meant to lock people out, to then lose control of it with no solution but to continually sign in to a newly required online account and enter a boatload of numbers, and to then  post NOTHING about the problem anywhere -- making your customers waste valuable time tracking the problem down.

I'm not particularly anxious to uninstall and reinstall, because then I'd have to try to deactivate and then reinstall/reactivate all of my plugins.  This is HOURS of work.

instructions are not just limited to Adobe and their site for "Help" on Channels. Buy a PS book, check blogs, check tutorials, You-Tube, and it's always
                                                                  "the same, the same".

I used to teach photography and I always had to "break things down to very simple terms and levels". Even f-stops and A = \pi r^2\, (area of a circle) was too complex for junior college students. The  correlation of the f-stops to lens area (f 2, f 2.8, f 4, f 5.6 - each number is 1.4x larger or smaller >> 1.4 x 1.4 = 2X more area >>> lets in 2x more light or 1/2 as much. That went above everyone's head (That's advanced calculus I used to hear from 18-60 year old students!). I then broke that down to hoses >> diameters >> time to fill a bucket with water - that worked better!

Adobe sends out Beta versions to advanced Photoshop people and pros, but forgets that 70% of users are advanced photo amateurs, and people just liking to do their own editing.

So books, software and so forth end up being written for a totally different market than the people using the product!

In this we are aware of the issue and you can use the option "license this software" as a workaround.

From your first post, that was the impression that I got. If that is the case, then your problem is different to what most people in here have been experiencing. Most of us in this thread are running the standard version which unexpectedly turns into a trial extended version and only happened after the 13.02 update. The simple cure for that is to uninstall and reinstall. I've had no problem with activation. I've not had to reactivate at all.
