new installation oADE opens but closes with error when I click any item, not prompting to authorize

I am on Windows xp have have lastest flash installed and have AdobeID

Installation went as expected, but when I launch the program, any click on its item, causes the program to close with and error and want to report to MS.

This is the text from the report

I have run though all the recommended IE settings and cannot fix this behaviour.

Some help someone?

Thank much, sjpt, for the good advice!

And it was not easy to find a download of the old version.  But, did and was able to install and authorize.  Still got some strange error messages, that apparantly did not stop completion of the processes that supposedly generated the error...sheesh...

Shows the Adobe's community commitment when they cannot provide good support for the typical public library user.  Hate to say it, but that river from South American does it smarter.

Try uninstalling and installing v1.7.2.  This works more reliably in various ways.  Several people have reported issues with V2.0 on XP.

Version 1.7.2 is a little difficult to find,

available on Adobe site for Windows and for Mac.
