I keep getting "the user does not have sufficient privileges to install adobe flas player"

When I try to install Flash Player 11 I get a messege that says "the user does not have sufficient privileges to install adobe flash player", I have tried on both my user account and my husbands, we both have administrator accounts. My user account shows flash player 11 as being installed and functioning, my husbands does not. we are running Windows XP and using internet explorer, it is an older version, 8, i believe. Can anyone please help?

Download the offline installer from http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/installation-problems-flash-player-windows.html#main-pars_hea... and save it to disk, then right-click on the downloaded installer and select 'Run as Administrator'.

If you still get that error, can you post the contents of the FlashInstall.log file in C:\Windows\system32\Macromed\Flash ?

This looks like a very old install log; the date says 14/02/2010, which means that the installer did not run at all.  Are you sure you account has administrative privileges?

And you did 'Run as Administrator?

Yes I have administrative privileges, I set the computer up and set up the user accounts. There are 5 user accounts, only mine and my husband's has administrative privileges, I have even removed the administrative privileges from my husband's account to see if that would make a difference, it hasn't. Also, I have noticed that Flash Player is the only program I have this issue with, I can and have successfully added, removed and changed other programs to my computer. In addition, I also have this problem with my lap top, I am the only user. Here is the install log for that computer if it helps. the Adobe website shows I don't have Flash Player installed, but my computer shows it in the add/remove software area, but no where else. My desk top is the same way, it also seems to function on both my laptop and desktop (only on my account though).

Can you try a clean install as described in http://forums.adobe.com/thread/928315

The clean install worked, but flash player isn't working on any other user account except mine. It show's up in the control panel as installed on the other user accounts, but the adobe web page doesn't find it when I try to verify it's running. Any suggestions? thanks.
