Adobe Digital Editions fails to recognize Administrator

I have been trying to download Adobe Digital Editions but at the point where it asks for permission, the installer will not recognize that I am signed in with a user that has Administrator privileges.  My computer has only one user, who is the Administrator, and is password protected.  The installer does not seem to be able to recognize that.  I even created a new user with Administrator privileges and a new password, and still got error that installer could not elevate to administrator.  windows 7

you can't download ade or you click on the downloaded file and it then fails?  if the later, right click>click run as administrator.
