1. Re: Dreamweaver (on Windows 7) wont connect to IIS (v7) Server using "FTP over SSL/TLS..."
SnakEyez02 Jan 14, 2013 8:10 AM (in response to Im_aPC)This has been discussed in prior. I recommend reading my old thread for all the details:
http://forums.adobe.com/thread/889530
But to make a long story short, Godaddy is improperly signing SSL certificates on shared servers. The ips/servers/domains and certificate do not match. Thus DW, and many other tools, fail to authenticate SSL connections to Godaddy. Some users have stated that other FTP tools, like Filezilla as you have mentioned, will automatically bypass and change your connection to insecure, but DW is very picky. Once you change encryption to none the connection will be accepted. Best solution is if you want a properly signed SSL certificate move to another host because Godaddy refuses to admit they are improperly using SSL certificates on their sites. These warnings will also pop up for your users if you have a store saying the SSL certificate does not match the domain/ip and this can make users checking out in a storefront very nervous.

Im_aPC Jan 14, 2013 8:27 AM (in response to SnakEyez02)Thanks for your prompt reply.
My comments:
1) You should update your tread (forums.adobe.com/thread/889530) to reflect that it still occurs on CS6 (I had already read it but figured it was an old tread and thus should be fixed by now).
2) You said “These warnings will also pop up for your users if you have a store saying the SSL certificate does not match the domain/ip and this can make users checking out in a storefront very nervous” . This does not seem to be correct – my https pages display properly using the same Godaddy certificate … using IE:
3) Godaddy is not my host (I use Amazon AWS) – but the SSL certificate is from them.

3. Re: Dreamweaver (on Windows 7) wont connect to IIS (v7) Server using "FTP over SSL/TLS..."
SnakEyez02 Jan 14, 2013 9:19 AM (in response to Im_aPC)I think I found your issue. Your certificate is only for www and I'm assuming your FTP isn't on the www subdomain and could be something like ftp.yourdomain.com. Does that sound like your scenario? If so you need to buy a certificate with a subject alternative name extension to run on *.wincalendar.com . Then you have SSL throughout your site. The way it's setup right now only the www subdomain will be secured.

5. Re: Dreamweaver (on Windows 7) wont connect to IIS (v7) Server using "FTP over SSL/TLS..."
SnakEyez02 Jan 14, 2013 9:35 AM (in response to Im_aPC)I wasn't looking at your SSL setup on IIS. I was looking at your registration when I viewed your site online. You have no Subject Alternative Name registered for the wildcard *.wincalendar.com. If you view the certificate in your browser you will see what I mean. This needs to be set on the certificate registration and not something in IIS.

6. Re: Dreamweaver (on Windows 7) wont connect to IIS (v7) Server using "FTP over SSL/TLS..."
Im_aPC Jan 14, 2013 9:58 AM (in response to SnakEyez02)Thanks for the reply. What your asking for is specifc to a wildcard certificate (for use with all subdomains). I did not purchase a wildcard certificate as i am only using this for ftp'ing to my top level domain ( wincalendar.com ) Why would this be required (I am not looking to connect all all subdomains only my main top level domain)?

7. Re: Dreamweaver (on Windows 7) wont connect to IIS (v7) Server using "FTP over SSL/TLS..."
SnakEyez02 Jan 14, 2013 11:03 AM (in response to Im_aPC)Here's the thing, your certificate won't work on ftp.yourdomain.com and I'm assuming that is the virtual host you setup for FTP to your server. If that statement is incorrect, please say so. Otherwise if you don't want to extend the certificate to run on the virtual host, you should be able to use the IP address of the server because the certificate should cover the host IP. Would that solution work?

8. Re: Dreamweaver (on Windows 7) wont connect to IIS (v7) Server using "FTP over SSL/TLS..."
Im_aPC Jan 14, 2013 6:55 PM (in response to SnakEyez02)I have a dedicated IP and have tried connecting from Dreamweaver CS6 using the IP AND also tried using domin.com AND also tried using ftp.domain.com (i do have a DNS A record pointing this to my dedicated IP).
The result is the same - Dreamweaver responds "Server Certificate has expired or contains invalid data".
Yet it works fine with Microsoft Expression Web and Filezilla. Filezilla asks on first time connection to Trust and displays the certificate info - there is nothing to indicate that the certificate is not OK. Albiet it does not have a "subject alternative name". Perhaps this is causing the issue. If so, i hope Adobe can resolve (does certificate not having this make it invalid?). Or at least the Dreamweaver response should be more verbose to diagnose - i simply expect more from Adobe (it is after all the most expensive of the Web development Apps).

9. Re: Dreamweaver (on Windows 7) wont connect to IIS (v7) Server using "FTP over SSL/TLS..."
SnakEyez02 Jan 15, 2013 5:41 AM (in response to Im_aPC)There's been enough complaints that DW should continue to warn that the certificate is invalid, but it should allow the option to override. The thing is with an invalid certificate there is really no valid SSL. So to answer your question, by not having the certificate cover the virtual host for the FTP does make it invalid for that only. Not for the www portion of your site. There's nothing else I can see that is wrong, but have you tried asking Godaddy about this? I'm just curious if their support for certificates not related to hosting is better than their hosting support and might be able to help you out with the certificate just to make sure there is nothing I am overlooking.

10. Re: Dreamweaver (on Windows 7) wont connect to IIS (v7) Server using "FTP over SSL/TLS..."
Im_aPC Jan 15, 2013 7:11 AM (in response to SnakEyez02)Thanks for your comments. I have a ticket in with Godaddy and referenced this tread. I hope this gets resolved.
FYI: i purchased the certificateS (one for www.mydomain.com and one for mydomin.com) for the whole purpose of being able to use secure FTP with Dreamweaver. So i am verry disappointed.
