1. Re: Exporting Quicktimes locks up AME
xmarket Dec 14, 2012 9:08 AM (in response to rickg1949)Hi,
I have the same problem on a new PC I just got this week
AME from a creative cloud subscription
Dual Xeon E5-2650 64Gb of Ram and Quadro 4000. Everything was working on my old computer which was Dual Xeon E5530 with 40Gb and Geforce GTX 470.
I can't encode in quicktime, any codec.
Maybe the problem is coming from the quadro ?
Thanks

2. Re: Exporting Quicktimes locks up AME
rickg1949 Dec 14, 2012 10:08 AM (in response to xmarket)Mine was working fine for past several months until yesterday. So I updated Quicktime, no help, updated Quadro driver, no help.
Could the "MS Tuesday's Updates" have effected anything? Only recent Adobe updates were for Illustrater an Dreamweaver.
Just tested it again, with no joy. Taskmanager shows Adobe QT32 Server process hitting the top of the memory resources list as AME locks up or fails.

rickg1949 Jan 12, 2013 8:16 AM (in response to rickg1949)did a total uninstall/reinstall but still having same glitch in exporting 1920x1080 Quicktime in H.264. Anyone else? It appears that I cannot export from Quicktime Pro at that res either. Also uninstalled and reinstalled that.
Any thoughts?

4. Re: Exporting Quicktimes locks up AME
rickg1949 Jan 12, 2013 1:09 PM (in response to rickg1949)Unloaded Matrox drivers and disconnected MX02 le from system - no help.
I have tried rolling back nVidia Quadra 6000 driver without success in fixing Quicktime HD export from either Quicktime Pro or Adobe Media Encoder.
Rolled Quicktime back to ver.7.7.2, no help.
Anyone have thoughts on how I can find or clean out this bug?

rickg1949 Jan 14, 2013 2:50 PM (in response to MarcoDanny)Danny,
Wish I had an answer for you and/or me on this issue. If you figure it out, please post solution. Right now I compromising by rendering an mpg file at full res and then re-rendering it out as a Quicktime H.264 using my laptop workstation which still works.
I've found that the problem is in Quicktime, since I can't export HD files to H.264, 1920x1080i, mov's using Quicktime Pro. Did an uninstall/reinstall of Quicktime twice, with no help. Somewhere there has to be a conflict, wish I (and Adobe) knew where.

7. Re: Exporting Quicktimes locks up AME
rickg1949 Feb 16, 2013 8:28 AM (in response to rickg1949)Still have not found resolution to this "BAAAaaaahhhh!" problem when exporting to Quicktime 1920x1080 H.264 through AME. While I seldom use After Effects and reading that forum and saw some mentions there of a similar problem, thought I'd give it a try. Rendered to QT H.264 HD perfectly first time every time.
Also removed the AME presets folder under my user/appdata folder and had AME rebuild it. Threw out my saved presets, re-started machine, and still no joy exporting H.264 HD. And yes, I have experimented with a variety of source clips and CODECs.
Don't have this problem using AME on my laptop workstation so what did I do to my Dell T7600 to cause AME to stop outputting QT's?
Thanks in advance,
RG

8. Re: Exporting Quicktimes locks up AME
Todd_Kopriva Feb 16, 2013 9:38 AM (in response to rickg1949)Anyone who is having problems with exporting H.264 in a QuickTime container should read this:
QuickTime will often fail on computers with a large number of processors (CPUs), including computers with a large number of virtual processors created through hyperthreading. This is especially a problem with Apple’s H.264 exporter component within QuickTime. To get around this problem, disable hyperthreading or reduce the number of processor cores available to QuickTime. This document describes how to do this.

9. Re: Exporting Quicktimes locks up AME
rickg1949 Feb 16, 2013 10:24 AM (in response to rickg1949)OK, go figure! After reading many forum posts, I found one which said to "drag and drop a squence" into the render bin of AME. I've always used "CNTRL-M" to send sequences from the sequence panel to AME for rendering. Well, after dragging one from the project bin to AME and applying QT-1920x1080-H.264 preset, away it went rendering perfectly!
So, for now, I feel victorious! Just a couple small steps to have my output done as required. Figured that if After Effects could render what I needed, then hangup must be between Premiere and AME. So I'm still in love with CS6!

10. Re: Exporting Quicktimes locks up AME
rickg1949 May 9, 2013 1:38 PM (in response to rickg1949)My old brain forgot about my previous solution. But also tried Todd's suggestion and cut the number of processors to 18 using msconfig. That also cured the error. Thanks. rg
