    Playback Slow

    wayne greensill Community Member

      Hi there,

I am in the process of build a Blu-Ray project in Encore. Problem I have noticed is when I scroll through footage I have imported, which is 3hrs in length, when I scroll through the timeline to insert the chapter points the playback in the monitor is very slow respond. I usually have the same problem making a DVD.

I am using Windows 7 64bit. Nvidea 580 graphics card with latest drivers, 32mb memory and Adobe CS6 production suite with latest updates.

      Any ideas?

Several questions which may help someone answer

1-what is your video... exact codec and contents

2-what is your computer... motherboard and CPU

3-how many hard drives, and where is your video located

            Hi John,

            Thank you for your advice.

My Motherboard is a Asus Sabertooth X79: Socket 2011

            Overclocked Intel Six Core i7-3960x 3.3GHz @ max 4.8Ghz

            32Gb Kingston Hyper X Genesis Quad DDR3 1600MHz X.M.P (8x4GB Kit)

            3Gb Nvidea Geforce GTX 580

1st Hard Drive 300Gb Intel 320 Series SSD Sata (Progam Files Located)

2nd Hard Drive 2TB WD Caviar Black WD2002FAEX Sata 6 Gb/s, 64Mb Cache (Captured Video & Audio Located)

3rd Hard Drive  1TB WD Caviar Black WD1002FAEX Sata 6 Gb/s, 64Mb Cache (Adobe Cache Files Located)

I have Exported my 1920x1080i 25f MXF files out, using Premiere,  to AVI then encoded that to a m2ts file for Blu-Ray. I was advised to do it this way as I have a 3hr project that needs to go on a 25Gb Blu Ray Disc. You can see the discussion under the Blu Ray topic I opened a few days ago.

I get exactly the same problem when making DVD projects and the footage is only around 2hrs in length. But I normaly go through Dynamic Link to send to Encore from Premiere.

I hope this enough information for someone to help.

            Many thanks

            Wayne
