1. Re: FW CS5 - Severe Color Sample Issue
groove25 Jan 18, 2013 8:36 PM (in response to Joey D)There are definitely known color sampling issues with Mac OSX Mountain Lion and Fireworks CS6 (and perhaps with CS5), as discussed in this thread:
http://forums.adobe.com/message/4680209
Issues involving the Retina display are less well-documented, but at least one other user has reported similar difficulty:
http://forums.adobe.com/message/4591547
Have you tried the Eyedropper (I) tool? It uses a different mechanism for color sampling than the color picker, and isn't susceptible to the standard Mountain Lion color sampling bug: http://forums.adobe.com/message/4751371

2. Re: FW CS5 - Severe Color Sample Issue
Joey D Jan 21, 2013 9:29 AM (in response to groove25)Thanks. I guess the question is, will they fix this for CS5? I did download the trial of FWCS6 and the problem I have does not exist there. A fix for CS5 would be greatly appreciated.
I appreciate the workarounds but, I have used FW for the past 7 years or so and my workflow relies heavily on the color picker. It is frustrating to be forced to do it another/non-optimal way.
Is there another channel to contact Adobe on this issue? Not certain if the forums are just user-to-user or if they do look over these threads like Macromedia did.

3. Re: FW CS5 - Severe Color Sample Issue
groove25 Jan 21, 2013 1:03 PM (in response to Joey D)Will they release an update to CS5 to address these issues? I'm not qualified to answer that, but the odds seem low. Nevertheless, you can report the issue(s) using Adobe's official bug report and feature request form:
https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=wishform
I like to include URLs to relevant forum posts in my bug reports, to provide additional information (like the video you've included) and reinforce that other users are also being affected, if applicable.
You could also pipe up about it on the Adobe Fireworks Facebook page, but you won't likely receive a response.
I wonder if there are any adjustments or accommodations that can be made at the computer- or OS-level that might help. (Something to do with the Retina aspect.) It's a long shot, but you might also try saving your Fireworks preferences and configuration files and then reinstalling Fireworks.

daziggy May 8, 2013 4:27 PM (in response to Joey D)Have an older MBP with Mountain Lion running CS5 without issue. Just upgraded to MBP Retina, installed CS5 and seeing this issue. A real pain. Still looking for a resolution

6. Re: FW CS5 - Severe Color Sample Issue
Joey D May 8, 2013 5:20 PM (in response to daziggy)I have not found a solution within fireworks. However, I am using a 3rd party Mac App for the color picker. Its called Frank Deloupe and saves history. Not an optimal soution by any means but it is useful.
