Jeffrey Tranberry Jan 16, 2013 8:04 AM (in response to joshnewcad)The issue would occur when customers restarted a product, the license would get corrupted. If you can restart Photoshop several times without hitting it, you know you're good.

Jeffrey Tranberry Jan 16, 2013 8:07 AM (in response to merrymonk)Hi merrymonk, sounds like you're hitting another issue specifc to 64-bit windows: http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/64-bit-creative-suite-applications-repeatedly.htm l
The licensing team is working on fix for this as well. I'll need to check on an ETA.

NVJims wrote:
What about those of us running Windows who have purchased a stand alone copy? will this fix take care of our problem also?
The issue triggered by the previous updates and fixed with 13.1.2 only affected Windows users with a Creative Cloud Membership, or single product subscription (eg. 13.1). If you have an individual Photoshop subcription, then look for the 13.1.2 update to address the license issue.
If you are using a perpetual license on Windows then the latest update available is 13.0.1.1. This update has not been seen to cause the licensing issue discussed (for the most part) in this thread.
If after running the update, or if you have 13.0.1 running the 64-bit version and you still have issues, take a look at the help document Jeff posted below

- JM - Jan 16, 2013 10:39 AM (in response to SG...)I'm not sure this is specific to Windows, I have just experienced this today on a Mac (10.6.8). I am running a design suite CS6 and have never had this problem.... until now.
I am getting a "Sign in Required"
If I click "sign in" PS opens without any further information needed.
btw - have all of the bugs been updated for the standalone product, that have been fixed in the subscription version?

405. Re: Photoshop CS6 suddenly a trial version of Extended.
merrymonk Jan 16, 2013 10:44 AM (in response to Jeffrey Tranberry)Thanks Jeff for the info. I had assumed that the issues were the same as the symptoms seem very similar. Note that I don't have to enter my license info on every launch of Photsoshop. I do have to enter it after a machine restart.
An ETA for the 64 bit WIndows fix would be appreciated.

So far so good me, but the next few days will be the tell.

Jeffrey Tranberry Jan 16, 2013 11:13 AM (in response to gryhnd)13.1.2 is for Windows which affects Win32/Win64bit
There is one outstanding licensing issue for both 13.0.1.1 (perpetual) and 13.1.2 (Creative Cloud) that affects a small number of win64 customers: http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/64-bit-creative-suite-applications-repeatedly.htm l

received the Sign In notice when starting PS;
updated to 13.0.4
received a new Sign In notice, and this time with 30day clock. I chose to sign in with my Adobe ID. It then asked for my serial number ( I would have thought that using my Adobe ID would have grabbed the serial number which is listed in my account).
It accepted the SN and PS is no longer asking for sign in, other apps seem to be OK>

PSmasterGIMP Jan 16, 2013 4:18 PM (in response to Jewellery Photographer)I also just downloaded 13.0.4. It seems to work. I did have to enter my serial number by clicking "register..." under one of the menus, but after restarting PS, no more trial windows! Yeah!
Thank you Adobe for fixing this.
I totally understand the pressure of having a problem like this come up during the holidays (well the Mac problem during the holidays- lol), and thank you for the effort. I would also like to thank the moderators for their constant presence on the forums - and making us feel "heard" during the time it took to fix this bug.

q38 Jan 16, 2013 4:31 PM (in response to PSmasterGIMP)A few hours after loading 13.0.4, Photoshop crashed and I lost work and actions that were open. Crashes haven't happened much since the first update to the original CS6 that crashed about once a day. When a crash used to happen, it asked if I wanted to send info to Adobe, which I always did. This time only the "Tell Apple" dialog came up, no option to send the info to Adobe. Holding my breath...

Stacey Bindman Jan 16, 2013 5:34 PM (in response to Jeffrey Tranberry)Hello Jeffrey,
I did update to 13.0.4 after I had posted to here with my latest registration.
Meanwhile, I've had another problem ever since I purchased CS6 Photoshop standalone.

If I open up 1 file, I get 1 message, open 2 files I get 2 messages, and on and on.......
All I do is press OK, until I open up the Ps the next tuime, and it starts allover again - just like the registration problem!

Chris Cox Jan 16, 2013 8:21 PM (in response to Stacey Bindman)That error means that there is some bad data on the clipboard from another application or the OS.
It shouldn't be possible to come up just from opening a file, but you might have a third party plugin or script that is trying to paste something.

If you are expereinceing the same or similar problem please report it. Adobe needs to know so it can fix it. uhanepono Jan 19, 2013 6:21 PM (in response to castl1)I am inclined to agree. I had just finished thinking that when your post, well, posted. I lurk here often to see how it's going and it seems quirks and bugs and odd behavior from this update is the prevailing response from those who have updated but htere is no clear theme or gestalt to it. It may be hypochondriatic. Don't know. I am most puzzled by the disappearing icons (which is from another trhead enitrly) showing up as a bug after up-dating. I had licked (well, worked around) that one by disabling custom icons and purging the DS store files. Now, even disabled and purged, I get sporatic results. I am going to try to delete the PS6 prefences file and see, once it creates a new one, if that might not reset some thing, having this update taken into consideration. Still stuff to try. I will post any successes - and generally muddle through till I hear from a staffer with help and if none show up I will do as you did. Aloha, U

Some of us using windows system don't have any updates since 13.0.1.1 (photoshop CS6) and I guess this must be good news for us.

wkjeiwoi Jan 19, 2013 6:32 PM (in response to uhanepono)good perspective, uhanepono...my comment is less snark and more disappointed frustration...PS with CS5/6 on a pretty decent Mac has been a slow experience..plain and simple.
it's discouraging to learn that updates can (for some) make it even slower. perhaps I should post the issue elsewhere..a more appropriate thread dealing with this loss of speed...

427. Re: Photoshop CS6 suddenly a trial version of Extended.
sungyle Jan 19, 2013 9:15 PM (in response to wkjeiwoi)I think it should be an industry wide standard requirement that all software, PS and/or whatever, must include in its About window the hardware they used for their final test, for each every updated version.
I am sure all hardware companies (such as Apple) will want that too so they can sell more of their latest inventions.
If we click About PS-CS6 and it lists iMac 3.4 GHz Quad-core intel Core i7, 32 G SDRAM; NVIDIA GeForce 6800MX 2GB card, then we know we don't have the right to complain; Adobe knows it's our fault not theirs and Apple will smile (OK, sorry, I am too bitter and too sour).
-
428. Re: Photoshop CS6 suddenly a trial version of Extended.
Chris Cox Jan 20, 2013 12:34 AM (in response to sungyle)Not gonna happen: We test with thousands of different hardware and software configurations, to make sure everything works correctly.
-
429. Re: Photoshop CS6 suddenly a trial version of Extended.
sungyle Jan 20, 2013 9:23 AM (in response to Chris Cox)You are right, I was wrong. I am sorry. It should not be about which computer a software company tested the software on, but what computer they developed their software on.
I have no idea how they can test their software on thousands of hardware/software configuration. Do they buy tens of different computers and test hundreds of software configuration? Or do they buy hundreds of computers and test using tens of software configuration? That's neither important nor significant. It's either Apple or Windows. Do they test CS6 from Cheetah to Mountain Lion? I don't think so. And on the PC's, how far do they go back?
So, I was wrong. I should want to know the size of the machine they write the software on. In an ideal situation, they should write it on the smallest Mac mini and tune the codes so the program will run at 10X light speed. That will guaranttee the software will run comfortably on the biggest iMac. But if they wrote it using the biggest iMac, then, those students who can only afford a Mac mini will suffer. And this is when the marketing guy will take the software engineer out to coffee and tell him that they can only increase market share by sucking up to the many young new users coming into the market instead of relying on a limited number of rich daddies with money for the best hardware.
Are they smelling the coffee?
-
430. Re: Photoshop CS6 suddenly a trial version of Extended.
Chris Cox Jan 20, 2013 9:53 AM (in response to sungyle)Even for development we have hundreds of different configurations - so that we get good coverage even when debugging the software.
There is no one magic system that makes everything work right -- all you need is a system that is correctly functioning (no defective hardware, no serious bugs in the drivers).
And we tune it so it works reasonably even on the worst laptops.
-
431. Re: Photoshop CS6 suddenly a trial version of Extended.
wkjeiwoi Jan 20, 2013 11:41 AM (in response to Chris Cox)I think we can all respect that.
And there must be some way to indicate something like: "For best results, run on OS ___, and XYZ hardware."
Most programs will give some hardware minimum and on that hard ware, the software will run, in the strictest, most literal sense: it will launch and allow files to be created, edited, etc.
But there's a big difference between merely launching a program, and having it be speedy enough that it actually makes sense to use that application on that computer.
I'm having the experience sometimes like, several versions ago PS was faster and more "worky" than the current, even tho CS6 has the very latest features..which are good.
it's the meat n potatoes part that seems hurting.

432. Re: Photoshop CS6 suddenly a trial version of Extended.
Noel Carboni Jan 20, 2013 12:02 PM (in response to wkjeiwoi)You really have NO idea how difficult it is to make software that will use the most advanced features of modern computers and run stably on all the possible hardware and configurations. As I write GPU-accelerated software myself (though I have no affiliation with Adobe), I do.
Please keep in mind that there are those of us who find Photoshop to run brilliantly. It may be that others have spent a fair bit more money and time getting their systems into shape to run some of the most complex and advanced software admirably, but I'm here to tell you it's doable. This isn't exactly a $0.99 game you're trying to run; you're kind of expected to have more than the barest minimum computer that can put two instructions together.
That said, there are often specific problems that can be corrected or worked around. Overgeneralizing Photoshop in its current state to be missing its "meat and potatoes" isn't really helping you get to the bottom of specifically what's wrong on your system that's causing you to think it's bad for everyone.
Regarding your claims that Adobe hasn't published minimum requirements or guides to getting the most out of Photoshop, you just haven't looked hard enough I suspect.

uhanepono Jan 20, 2013 3:50 PM (in response to Chris Cox)Hi all. Back with more info. ..Could not get onto the forum earlier so left a post on photoshop.com.. So.. I reinstalled but this time from the site and not my disk, thinking the site's DMG would have the updates bilt in and, therefore, not have that "patched" effect that sometimes creates problems. It did not and I then proceeded to update but did not update to this newest update, 13.04 and photshop is back up to it's usual speed and not crashing. The missing extension icons are back but the file icons for cr2 and jpgs are gone. psd files seems to be ok but I have not checked all.
also I have lost again all my cr2 images and some preview images in bridge. I updated to acr 7.3.
So there you have it. I hope this helps fix things or if you have a workaround or fix already please do let me know. All else seems ok and speedy enough.
