Moving this discussion to the Adobe Digital Editions forum. Which Kobo Reader are you using? It is listed at Digital Editions Supported Devices - http://blogs.adobe.com/digitalpublishing/supported-devices.

Jeff asked Which Kobo Reader are you using?
In particular, it is important whether it is a dedicated eReader, or a tablet with eReader software.
They interact with ADE in different ways.

Hello, I am using Kobo Glo e-reader, a tablet with e-reader software,
running Adobe Digital Editions. Exclusive rights with Kobo, Inc. I cannot
get the device's icon on the left panel in order to drag the book and
download it on my Kobo glo. It is with library books being borrowed. Books
purchased are being loaded to my Kobo glo. Can you tell me why the device's
icon is not on the left panel. I uninstalled the software and then
reinstalled it again, thinking that there may have been a problem at the
first install, but things are the same. No device to pull the borrowed
books to. Thanks Ellen Adshade

If the main issue is with library books, you may find it best to install ADE 1.7.2 instead.
ADE 2.0 has quite a few problems with Overdrive and certain devices.
Version 1.7.2, it is a little difficult to find, available on Adobe site for Windows and for Mac.

The forum software is sometimes corrupting the link above. There shouldn't be a blank in 'editio ns.html'. The following redirects to the same page: http://tinyurl.com/diged172

The Kobo devices currently submitted to Adobe and listed as supported are as follows:
Kobo Inc. | Kobo eBooks | iOS app |
Kobo Inc. | Kobo eReader N416 | Dedicated reading device, tethered |
Kobo Inc. | Literati Wireless Reader | Dedicated reading device with wifi |
Kobo Inc. | Kobo Desktop for Windows | Windows Desktop Application |
Kobo Inc. | Kobo Touch | Reading device eInk |
Kobo Inc. | iOS app | iOS app |
It does not appear the Kobo Glo was submitted to us to be included as a supported device. It does not mean that it won't work but I would recommend contacting Kobo so they can request to have the device added to the list.

Thank you so much, Jeff. I did try to download version 1.7.2 of digital
editions but couldn't. Thanks for telling me to use a different browser
which I did, Moxilla firefox. I finally have 2 borrowed books on my Kobo.
Thanks again.
