1. Re: Need for open and save dialogues to be current with operating system
CarlosCanto Jan 31, 2013 1:37 PM (in response to Axiom DeSigns)Why has this not been resolved?
well, the guy said it wasn't that simple...there's your answer
no, but seriously, this is a user to user forum, don't expect an official answer.

2. Re: Need for open and save dialogues to be current with operating system
Mylenium Jan 31, 2013 10:37 PM (in response to Axiom DeSigns)It's not that simple. There are about 70 possible combinations to open a Windows file dialog and format it these days... File dialogs are not fixed, they are just "windows" in the most generic sense with some special stuff build around them and there's all sorts of things that need to be covered like. e.g. administrators hiding stuff in the locations bar via group policies. It's complicated and Windows 8 adding yet more options doesn't make this any easier...

3. Re: Need for open and save dialogues to be current with operating system
Axiom DeSigns Feb 1, 2013 4:17 AM (in response to Mylenium)it is that simple.. CCleaner by Piriform does exactly this - xp dialogues, and win 7 dialogues - and it's free.
At $3k+ for software that has a tool like "content aware" they can very easily fix the dialogue issue, and the 220" artboard limit while I'm at it.

Axiom DeSigns Feb 1, 2013 12:44 PM (in response to Mylenium)really? excellent standpoint you have there... I'm unhappy that the basics are being ignored, have been for years, and figured I'd chime in my two cents. This is broken, that is broken, two years have passed since another "complained" about it. It's a basic thing. It's like buying a 2013 car without an air bag - it's weird, and it's a lack of giving a crap by the company.
Adobe has one job - make software, so when others who do less more effectively, one has to wonder why the big dog can't simply do it right.Your contributions are unhelpful, so flame another thread, and enjoy your celebration of mediocrity, I choose to complain about things that are obvious in the hopes I don't have to continually suffer the status quo of paying top dollar for mediocrity, because I'm frankly sick of it. If this is the "best" adobe can do, then that's pretty sad.
And before you flame me to "use another program" you can stop that right there, as in spite of its gross negligences, adobe still provides the "best" design software platform. I simply happen to think it could be more, oh I don't know, up to date.ttl
There's little point in having all the bells and whistles when the underlying software is outdated.

6. Re: Need for open and save dialogues to be current with operating system
Axiom DeSigns Feb 2, 2013 12:05 PM (in response to Mylenium)Additionally, since you're so "well whatever - it's so complicated" and informed on all things Adobe.
one would then expect Adobe to be stymied across the board on how to do this "extra super mystery impossible" implementation right? Consistently? Across the suite of applications?
After Effects : win 7 & 8 dialogues work as expected.Lightroom : win 7 & 8 dialogues work as expected.
Flash Pro : win 7 & 8 dialogues work as expected.
Premiere Pro : win 7 & 8 dialogues work as expected.
Adobe Media Encoder : win 7 & 8 dialogues work as expected.
Even Acrobat XI has the expected dialogues!!Dreamweaver is XP style
Fireworks is XP style
InDesign is XP style
PhotoShop is XP style
Illustrator is XP style
So... (and i say this arbitraily) the top 5 bread and butter apps Adobe offers have not been upgraded to work with the current os's on a basic level of simply opening or saving a file - but "everything else is"?
So yes, it's obviously so freaking hard --- administrator group policies... really? - that statement deserves a "well whatever"
This is a case of the left hand not knowing what the right is doing instead of implenting the code, they reinvent (or ignore) the wheel and basically don't give a sh*t.
Things like; you can change interface sizing in PhotoShop, but not in anything else? Or how they couldn't make all the CS6 apps have the same interface style?
It's sad.
