1. Re: Disable conforming audio CFA files
Harm Millaard Feb 7, 2013 1:39 AM (in response to Elliott B.)Actually it is conforming from 16 b it to 32 bit for better editng accuracy and no, it can't be turned off. It doesn't take much space either, at least in comparison to video or wav files.

JSS1138 Feb 7, 2013 1:15 PM (in response to Harm Millaard)They're actually larger than the average WAV file as they are essentially the same uncompressed PCM audio, but 32 bit floating point rather than the normal 16 bit.

Elliott B. Feb 7, 2013 1:09 PM (in response to JSS1138)Yeah and it's kind of a lot when your video is all compressed. I have 180GB of footage, which generated 10.5GB of .cfa files, or 6%.

JSS1138 Feb 7, 2013 1:16 PM (in response to Elliott B.)That's why you need lots of storage to be an editor.

5. Re: Disable conforming audio CFA files
Harm Millaard Feb 7, 2013 1:22 PM (in response to Elliott B.)That is around 15+ CD's of music albums. Are these figures correct? Even if they are correct, so what? What is 10 GB when you have 1000+ on a single disk or even a multitude of that?

ScubaBadger Nov 15, 2013 4:24 AM (in response to Elliott B.)I have similar thoughts on this. I don't have an issue with the amount of storage space - comes with the job.
What does bug the hell out of me is the ability to smoothly progress with work - or render long timelines to work on - when the conforming is still happening. With a 5 - 600GB project - the conforming takes a while and somewhat slows me down. Times like this I can have a cup of tea two or three times over..
