hello, yesterday while using firefox 18.0.2 i have noticed that flash player wasn't installed and i didn't have any plugins installed anymore.(i had the basic plugins such as java, flash player, and quicktime.) and i tried re-installing the plugins and browser. Niether of them worked but only 1 plugin was succesfully installed java. although flash player coudn't be installed on my computer(os:mac version:10.6.8). i tried installing other browsers like chrome and it did work because flash player was already built-in the browser. the main problem is that i can't manually or automatically install the latest version of flash player either it says installation failed or installation error and under it would say get support. I tried go following the steps to install flash player like remove it and installing it again but it didn't work. im frustrated that it doesn't work with firefox because all my important documents and saved passwords are in the browser. please help.

I suspect we might be running into permission issues with the temp folder.  Could you also try repairing permissions on your system volume to see if that makes a difference?

First I'd recommend rebooting if you haven't already done so.  Second, take a look in your /Library/Internet Plug-ins folder to see if you have a file named Flash Player.plugin.  If so, try deleting it manually then installing again.  If that fails, go into the Console application and type "flash" in the "All Messages" section and copy/paste the contents to a reply.  In addition, there's a log named "FlashPlayerInstallManager.log" under ~/Library/Logs in Console, please copy/paste that content too.

Thanks,

Chris

Moved to Installing Flash Player, so we can get more eyeballs with the right expertise looking at this thread.

Can you provide some clarity on:

a.) whether or not you rebooted and manually uninstalled using Chris's instructions above

and if so,

b.) what steps you took before encountering the crash?

Something is definitely wonky -- it seems like you ran the installer, it unpacked everything it needs to run in a temporary directory, then the directory went away before it could actually be used:

Application Specific Information:

*** Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInvalidArgumentException', reason: 'launch path not accessible'

I'm not really sure what that's about.  Some of the smaller, more obscure security software packages occasionally block Flash Player installers, but I'm not aware of any active problems at the moment.  Just including it here in case it might ring a bell for you.

Before you take that step, would you be willing to do a quick desktop sharing session with me so I can try a couple things on your system?  If this works for you, please send email to ccampbel@adobe.com.

Thanks,

Chris

if you mean by restarting and shutting down my computer i already did that it didn't solve the problem

the steps i took to encounter the crash is simple, every time i try to install flash player it does't work and gives me an installation failed error. therefore i cannot get flash player on firefox.
