1. Re: Download content in mainland China?
Alo Lohrii Feb 19, 2013 12:55 PM (in response to dpsCygnus)Adobe is currently experimenting with a solution to deliver Digital Publishing Suite content (folios) to end users in the People's Republic of China. The solution will be limited to customers who can present to Adobe a General Administration of Press and Publication (GAPP). GAPP licenses are not provided to foreign owned corporations. They are only provided to joint ventures or Chinese entities. Once this solution is made available to qualifying DPS publishers, it will be communicated broadly through our sales, marketing and technical channels of communication. Fulfillment of content into China will require an addendum to existing agreements between DPS publishers and Adobe which may impose different parameters than the fulfillment of content to the rest of the world. Until such time as Adobe opens this solution to additional qualifying publishers, we cannot support attempts to fulfill content into China. If you currently have issues with fulfillment into other countries, please let us know and we can assist you.

dpsCygnus Feb 19, 2013 1:12 PM (in response to Alo Lohrii)thanks Lohrii,
So if I can't get a GAPP license, can I do a single-edition with a Creative Cloud subscription as a workaround? Will people in mainland China be able to download all the content in a Creative Cloud single-edition?

3. Re: Download content in mainland China?
Alo Lohrii Feb 19, 2013 1:18 PM (in response to dpsCygnus)As John pointed out here some DPS customers with a registered GAP license can legally distribute content into mainland China.

Would the Creative Cloud single-edition work if we cannot get a GAP license?

5. Re: Download content in mainland China?
Alo Lohrii Feb 19, 2013 1:42 PM (in response to dpsCygnus)I have heard that app download from mainland china from the Apple Appstore is working fine. So Ideally, a DPS built-in single edition app which is hosted at Apple should work and yes you can use creative cloud to build one a single edition app. That being said, nothing is being tested and proven at Adobe DPS and I can't gurantee or assure you 100%. You might want to dig into it al little more :-)
Thanks

Any ideas on where to dig into this a little more?
Sounds like I need to find somebody in mainland China and ask them to try downloading something I know was build as a single edition.

8. Re: Download content in mainland China?
Himanshu Singh Feb 19, 2013 7:27 PM (in response to dpsCygnus)It would be tough for you to get a Gapp License if you do not have a registered entity in China.

dpsCygnus Feb 20, 2013 6:22 AM (in response to Himanshu Singh)Thanks
Our client has a registered entity in China and we were thinking the GAPP was something he might have or could get. Now I see that it is something issued directly to a publisher who has a registered entity in China.
Looks like we will have to go the single-edition route.
The last "what's new" webinar made it sound like they would be addressing the issue so we could use our pro account. Any news or clarification on that?

10. Re: Download content in mainland China?
Himanshu Singh Feb 20, 2013 7:33 AM (in response to dpsCygnus)Webinar stated that if you can get a GAPP License and send it to Adobe, Adobe can release content distribution in China. Unless the publisher has a GAPP License, presently there is no possibility of publishing a working multi-issue app in China. Single Edition Apps are the way to go for now.
