PierreLouisBeranek Jan 21, 2013 3:56 PM (in response to John T Smith)Hi John,
I realize that. Thank you. Every Feature Request I post here I also post on Adobe's official page as well. I'll clarify that in my future FR posts.
I post FRs here to get ideas rolling, to generate constructive dialogue and to hopefully get other like minded editors to repost FRs in their own words. The more people that post a FR, the better the chances we'll get what we want. Adobe's FR page is great, but there's zero dialogue. It's a one-way, dead-end street (you post but get no feedback, and you can't post pictures/supporting material). I also like to hear what others think of the FRs I'm sending to Adobe, thus, another of the reasons I post FRs here.
Cheers

needles27 Jan 21, 2013 4:19 PM (in response to PierreLouisBeranek)There was a kickstarter project that funded and is underway to turn an iPad into a control surface. Check out: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/jeffchow/ctrl-console-creativity-unleashed
Also, I heard rumors of CS7 adding in multi-device capabilities. So, the wait may not be too long.

PierreLouisBeranek Jan 21, 2013 4:43 PM (in response to needles27)Hi needles27,
Awesome find, thanks for sharing! Can't wait to see CTRL+CONSOLE out on the market.
Hopefully you're right about Adove adding multi-device capabilities in CS7. After all, it's the future. If Adobe gets behind this technology, they can certainly achieve a lot more than what can be done with CTRL+CONSOLE alone.
I imagine there will be a day when we tell our children/grand-children "When I was your age, I used to edit with a keyboard!"
Cheers

Steven L. Gotz Jan 21, 2013 5:57 PM (in response to PierreLouisBeranek)Sounds like a winner. I can't see why he needs pledges instead of investors. I might be more willing to put a few thousand into a Venture Capital fund for the purpose of getting it off the ground than I would be to pledge.
In any case, I would prefer a flat glass, 36" by 18" control surface, with everything I could possibly want placed where I could easily edit with two hands, and when I need to type, if voice recognition needs a little assistance, then a keyboard could be made to pop up in the middle of the glass where the jog wheel was.
In the meantime, I could see this as a reason to buy an iPad. Pledge $100, buy an iPad, buy a few apps, and build the prototype. Sounds quite reasonable. If I had not just blown the budget on a camera ....

Jon Chappell Jan 27, 2013 12:18 PM (in response to Steven L. Gotz)It's not a console exactly, but if you want gesture-based timeline navigation and editing, we already have an app for this:

(currently Mac only, Windows coming soon)

PierreLouisBeranek Feb 25, 2013 4:44 PM (in response to Jon Chappell)Here's another cool technology I found that could have some applications in video editing:
Wearable Gesture Control from Thalmic Labs
Enjoy!

Something that is not a rumor, but has no stated date, is some sort of the network computing... not Cloud, but work sharing

Not always. I've gotten a reply or two after submitting requests. At least, that confirms that they are being read at Adobe.

PierreLouisBeranek Feb 25, 2013 7:49 PM (in response to Jim Curtis)Okay, I should have written: "...there's 1% dialogue. For the vast majority of us who never get a reply, it's a one-way street."

PierreLouisBeranek Apr 6, 2013 4:21 PM (in response to PierreLouisBeranek)Touch control surfaces for Premiere Pro are almost here! The 'Control Surfaces Support' chapter of the Lynda.com course on PP's new upcoming features proves this, with a demo of the presenter using an iPad app to control audio levels with the app's virtual touch controls interface, or even with an exact copy of PP's Audio Mixer window.
This probably means we'll soon have a way to display the Multicam window on an iPad for a touch-to-cut workflow.
Awesome stuff!

needles27 Jul 24, 2013 8:39 AM (in response to PierreLouisBeranek)After a sucessful kickstarter campaign, this developer has just released a great touch-surface control app for the iPad. I have no affiliation with this company - just something to check out. Maybe some bugs to be found as it was just released yesterday, but it looks pretty cool...

PierreLouisBeranek Jul 25, 2013 10:07 AM (in response to needles27)Thanks for the heads up needles27. Looks very interesting. Personally I'm looking forward to a touch interface for Multicam editing, where you touch the camera angle you want to cut to.
