Adobe Flash player installation issue

Adobe Flash Player is no longer working on my computer (windows 7).  I tried to update it and it stops at 50% says close internet explorer before it continues.  I did and it continued with the same message.  I tried to uninstall it and it gave the same message.  What do I do?????
