Adobe Flash player installation issue

Adobe Flash Player is no longer working on my computer (windows 7).  I tried to update it and it stops at 50% says close internet explorer before it continues.  I did and it continued with the same message.  I tried to uninstall it and it gave the same message.  What do I do?????

Check with the Task Manager's Processes tab if it's still running in the background.

I did check the task manager tab and nothing was open.

Nothing?  That is near impossible; if Windows is running, there should be at least 30 to 50 processes active.
