1. Re: Import and playback issues.
Harm Millaard Mar 12, 2013 10:39 AM (in response to Caveman Phil)What codec is used inside those AVI or MOV wrappers? Where did you get those files from?
For Canon 5D material your i5 processor and the 8 GB RAM and possibly the rest of your setup is not powerful enough/

3. Re: Import and playback issues.
Caveman Phil Mar 12, 2013 11:23 AM (in response to Harm Millaard)Thanks, Harm. Found G-Spot and I'm checking the codec issues now. I never really had problems with .avi files in CS4, so I guess I'm just surprised the latest and greatest version of Pe isn't more ready to go with that format.
I was told the i5 processor is a hyper-threaded quad-core with built-in HD video support, so the idea that it is not sufficient also surprises me. And, the 8GB is what the Adobe system requirements recommend-- should work with 4.
Can I check back after I solve the codec issue?

Also... AVI is not a format, it is a wrapper... what is important is what is inside the wrapper

5. Re: Import and playback issues.
Caveman Phil Mar 12, 2013 11:45 PM (in response to Harm Millaard)Thanks for the input, guys. Looks like it was codec issues.
Sorry I vaporized from the forum. I’m on an ugly deadline with a freebie-charity project, and I’ve been getting quite frazzled by all the technical problems.

For anyone else who reads this... what was the codec issue, and what did you do to fix the problem?
