Hello,

does exist a documentation about the contents of the FlashPlayer installation log file "flashinstall.log"?

It could be interesting to understand the entries. Additionally the documentation of the error codes could help to find and fix installation/update problems...

'til now, I haven't found any documentation about on Adobe pages. I found, how I can activate/deactivate logging, but nothing about the structure, the meanings, error codes, etc....

Best Regards

Axel

There is no published info that I know of.  Are there particular entries that you are curious about?

Thank you for your answer Chris.

I'm interested in the general structure of this log, to understand in a better way, what's happen.

What do the the different entries in the brackets mean, for example

0006 ...

0007 ...

0008 ...

I'm interested in a list of the different error codes, for example the following one: (I've a lot of more, but this error appeard mostly in the logs, independent of a working FlashPlayer or not...)

[error] 1223 1058

Next info about the different parameters (?) of EXE, DLL or OCX entries which appear sometimes or not

C:\Windows\system32\Macromed\Flash\FlashPlayerUpdateService.exe 183

C:\Windows\system32\Macromed\Flash\FlashUtil32_11_5_502_135_ActiveX.exe 5

C:\Windows\system32\Macromed\Flash\Flash32_11_5_502_135.ocx 5

What do the numbers mean after the brackets, they are not continuous

0000 00000010

0001 00000020

0002 00001015

0003 00000018

Why and how is it possible, that I can find a user profile path entry of an Flash-update in the log, no user has rights to install applications in our environment.

Normally updates should be installed by local system (automatic) or admin...

etc.

I don't understand, why there exist no documentation about. There exist in several documents the hint, how to activate logging, but nowhere a description about the logs...

Best regards

Axel

Maybe Chris can provide more info, but the code in the brackets mean

= Information (correct)

= Warning (something wrong)

= Error (installation failed)

The numbers at the end of a file (5, 183) indicate that the file could not be written or replaced (permission issue).

I have never been able to figure out what the numbers after the bracketed code mean.

Thank you Pat for the hints...

It's interesting, if you receive a warning in the log without a hint about the problem... 🙂

I found this in a log, without any information behind the numbers or is it caused by the last entry?
