I export a project from Final Cut Pro X 10.0.1 as an XML file, as described here: http://help.apple.com/finalcutpro/mac/10.0.1/#verdbd66ae - and get an .fcpxml file.
Then I go to Premiere Pro and do everything by the book: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/premierepro/cs/using/WSd9957a95a81082eb28f05af5126718c47be-800 0.html (I don't just close the project, but also tried quitting FCPX), but my .fcpxml is just grayed out in the list of files in PPro Import window.
What's wrong? I found no information that Premiere Pro CS 5.5.1 doesn't support .fcpxml files.
Thank you in advance,
Final Cut Pro 7 XML (XMEML) is completely different from Final Cut Pro X XML (FCPXML). They have nothing in common except that they are formatted as XML.
See here for an explanation:
Here is an app that will convert FCPXML to XMEML:
Thank you, Jon.
A pity they don't mention it anywhere.
I just discovered this in Premeire CS6 and was taken by surprise. I had been expecting to import fcpx file just like always had with fxp 7 in the past. Does anyone know of a free conversion app?
